I have a whole bunch of neat prototype drivers that I'm not doing anything with. Usually when I prototype a driver, I make a couple at a time. I decided that instead of leaving the extras sitting on a shelf, I'll give some away.

Here's the deal. Anyone who donates to LPF can have a space on the list, and at the end of 2 weeks, we'll pick a winner at random. You get a spot on the list for every dollar donated. When you've donated, post a message below. I probably won't update the OP in real time, but I'll skim the thread at the end and compile all the entries then.

Prototype buck, revision number: 34LIFV6V2

Abilities:
- Small (12x9)
- High current (4.3A fixed)
- Stable, and very efficient
- Large copper surface for easy heatsinking
- 2x lithium ion input

Good idea :) I am always amazed at how generous you are RHD. Very impressive!
If I had spare cash I would donate, not sure what I would do with a 4.3A driver though!

what!? I need this driver! gah I'm sitting on a failed 2 x 2A driver build right now, that little bad boy would definitely fix my problem.

I'm donating the shit out of this, big thanks rhd for offering this up & supporting LPF!!!

Any reason these are just 'prototypes'? Any plans for any production runs? (By you, or anyone else?) Just curious.

Seems like you've been making some large strides in driver development lately. (Bigger currents, smaller sizes, and better efficiencies.) I'd love to see more options widely available out there.

I'm also curious to know what advancements have allowed you to make these gains. (New IC's? Other improved components?) Seems like you've created a paradigm shift over the existing generation of commercially available drivers. Great stuff.

Keep up the great work! This forum needs more of you!

Will be setting up a monthly recurring donation of 5$ sometime this week.

Looks like you made a bunch of nice drivers, I'm sure people will be donating a little extra because of this.

Very generous of you, keep it up! :)

Nope, no plans for production runs. I call them prototypes because I only make a couple at a time and am not selling them. It's not quite the right phrase, but I think it'll do.

I just make them because I like making them. Usually It starts with the need for ONE driver of a certain type, and then I end up iterating twelve revisions and five forks until 6 months later I have the driver I want... It's a very illogical habit ;)

Donated 5$. Not looking for a driver as I currently have no need for one. Good luck for everyone else!

1 week left. Gozert, if you know of anyone that you want to take your 5 spots in the draw, feel free to give them away.

Oh that sounds great, thanks! I'd like to give them to nwfreefly then.

Last call - I'll aim to do the draw on Thursday:

Entries so far:

ChaosLord: 10x
Nwfreefly: 5x (thanks to gozert)
Danefex: how much did you donate?

Here's how we keep it fair.

Someone, anyone, even one of the contestants, will choose the winning number (between 1 and 45). Each number maps to one of the contestant's entries (danefex has 30, chaoslord has 10, nwfreefly has 5).

The list of mappings has been posted here:
https://encipher.it?Cy7A

However, it's encrypted, so nobody, except for me, can decrypt it. However, since I'm already posted that mapping, and shared the link, it means that I also can't change it. That means that anyone, even danefex, chaoslord, or nwfreefly, can chose the winning number. One a number is chosen, I'll release the decryption key to the thread, and everyone can go look to see who won!

The only person who shouldn't chose the winning number, in theory, is ME (because I know what the mappings are).

So let's say that the first person, contestant or otherwise, to chose and post a number between 1 and 45, gets to be the decider! Starting.... now! To ensure the integrity of the list, and ensure that I can't change it, I won't be editing this post (even if I find typos afterwards).
