Hi guys, my new laser that i ordered from lazerer just came in. I didn't order the rechargeable battery that they had because it was from ultrafire. And reading on the fourms ultrafire isn't very reliable. So my question is what is the most reliable and best rechargeable 18650 battery out there? my laser can't be used right now because it has no source of power ): LZCB - 532nm 50mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer

While the panasonics are no doubt great, they are overkill for a 50mW green laser....

A protected AW will do the just as well. Sochine and solarforce batteries will also work well.

Personally I'd rather spring for two of these, over one of the panasonics.

AW 18650 Protected 2200 mAh Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Ultrafire WF-139 Charger for 14500 / 17500 / 18500 / 18650 / RCR123 3.7 volt Lithium Battery Charger

More of a budget charger, but it gets the job done. Very tight fit for some protected 18650 batteries like those AW's but they do fit.

There are links to three companies in my signature (the top three) that offer certified laser goggles.

At a minimum you need protection from 532nm, but preferably also 808nm and 1064nm. Do some reading about how green DPSS laser modules work and you'll know why :)

I would be very careful with AW batteries in that link , and Ultrafire charger.
If you want to pay $17 for one 2200mAh AW , or 21 for 2x 3100mAh Panasonic, then....
Do your math- there is nothing "budget" here- just overpriced low capacity battery , and overpriced low quality charger ($18+ $4-$5 shipping ).
Be very careful with these prices , and what are you getting for your money.
Again, you do the math it is your money.

The charger is crap, but it does work.

As for the batteries... since when are AW's considered overpriced and low capacity. Granted the panasonic will last longer, but dollar for dollar is an extra 900mAh worth it? Maybe in some applications... in these I think not.

Btw, it's $12.99 not $17.

$12.99x2 = 25.98
$17.99x1 = 17.99
Total: $43.97

Shipping will probably be a bit too... like ~$6 or so.

Even so, it beats spending $22 per battery.

I know what I am talking about. You've got it all wrong.

There are no AW batteries, they take Panasonic,(older models Sanyo) cell > install PCB and sell it as AW. People are misinformed that there is some special AW battery . WRONG.

Yes, on that site , they are well overpriced.

This is the real math

ONE AW battery of only 2200mAh is $13 + at least (somehow you forgot) $4 for slowest shipping = $17 for ONE 2200mAh my friend, and if that is cheap to you then, excellent.

Panasonics 3100mAh $10.88 with FREE shipping. You said that you can buy 2 AW for one 3100mAh Panasonic. :) think again.

Charger: agree , not only crappy , but in many cases dangerous too. Many of them will overcharge your cell to over 4.3V. Just take a look at CPF.
This charger is well overpriced at $18 + $5 (and more) for basic shipping.

For $18-$20 with free shipping you can buy, pretty nice charger, safe, and much faster than that joke called charger.

That site is hitting your wallets pretty hard
:)

It is your money.

I hope now you can see that Panasonics are NOT $22 per battery, but per set of 2 batteries, with nice protective batt. case, AND free shipping.

Oh I forgot Panasonic , just as good 2900mAh is like 8 bucks a piece. 2 of them with plastic protective case for 16 bucks with FREE shipping.

Now you can compare them.

Cheers

I didn't see that you get two batteries for that price, but IMO the AW's are still the better of the two choices presented here.

Can you find them on another site for less? Probably. I've dealt with lighthoud a few times, and find the service to be excellent. Usually I have my orders in 3-5 at my door.

For two batteries and that charger, the total is $48.97 with shipping. (Shipping is $7.15 btw.)

The reason I recommended AW batteries here still stands because while it may not be much, the pcb circuit on them always seems to work.

For a person who just wants some fun (such as the OP), and might not have a multimeter on hand, or the desire to test his batteries obsessively, the AW's or at least some protected battery makes a lot more sense.

Edit: Aggressive marketing has a tendency to backfire, take it down a notch or three, you may have no doubt about these panasonics, but the rest of us not on the payroll will need a bit more convincing:beer:

For <100mW laser, these are more than fine.

Digital Li-Ion 18650 Battery Charger - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

TrustFire 18650 3.7V 2500mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

I've used both of these and never had a problem.

Guy was asking what is the BEST battery , as everybody can read in the first post.

Very accurate answer, and money saving tip was provided. Not where to buy.

If you guys think that it is AW 2200mAh, Trustfire, (poster clearly said something about Ultrafire), and Lighthound that charges 4 bucks to ship one cell are the best then good luck to new members.

Dealextreme is good Chinese source if you want to wait weeks for your item to arrive.

I will always post correct info on this board. Somebody might find it useful, others not.

Reader can do research , and decide.

Again OP was asking about best 18650 battery in his first post. There is no such a thing like "overkill" if you are going to use 18650 batteries, and at the same time you ask "What is the best 18650 battery".

That's a matter of opinion.

This is a ridiculous statement. What did you just happened have a HUGE link in your signature on where to buy the exact product you're referencing? Lol.

For the price, and application needed, those were the best batteries to use IMO.

I get you are selling batteries, but try to be honest. If you want to play sales man all the time you'll just get flamed. Its OK to throw a pitch in there, but in this case you're over doing it. Its a cheap 50mW laser. No need to buy the top batteries out there.
