Default Battery Specs

Hi all, new user here!

I've got a question. I have a SD-301 200mW 532nm Single Dot Green Laser Pointer coming from Fast Tech, and noticed there weren't any details on what kind of 18650 is best for this device.

I've got a few Efest 2100mAh IMR 18650 3.7V LI-MN (30A), and a few that are I believe 3000mAh at 10A.

I'm an avid vaper, so I know enough about batteries that I feel uncomfortable throwing these things in a device and going to town...so I'd love some advice.

Thanks!

Both the 18650's you have should work. With my 500mw laser I use a 18650 2600mAh 3.7V lithium-ion battery and it works great. I would recommend staying away from ultrafire and trustfire brand batteries.

Exactly anything but the Brands that end with fire is probably a good choice. Ive had good luck with Panasonic cells, and Sony.

Yep. Mine is Samsung and it works well. I also hear from a lot of people that Panasonic cells are good.

I guess my main issue is whether or not this laser pointer will drawn enough to warrant a 30A battery?

My background with 18650s is fairly high stakes, in that certain devices draw so much current that using a 10A instead of a 30A battery can result in battery failure, etc. So maybe I'm just displaying my ignorance here.

EDITED: draws 400mA according to the Fast Tech page. *facepalm*

Given this...I should be fine with both 10A and 30A batteries. lol

Not all Fire batteries are bad.. You just have to get them from a good dealer.. they blue wrapped ones if they are from a good reputable dealer then they should be ok. stay away from the ones that are not blue and not from a unknown trustworthy dealer.. and dont use them is lasers flash lights are ok and vapers I have two blue Ultra fires 18650's and charged them many many times and they have not failed me yet

Default Re: Battery Specs

Your only issue in this case is that some of these batteries are button top and some are flat top, some lasers require the button top and some lasers have a spring at both ends and you can use either.

Talking Re: Battery Specs

The other issue is counterfeits, as those blue ones are knock-offed like crazy, and under the wrapper can be anything.

Using a reputable dealer who didn't appear to suddenly find he can sell at half the normal prices....etc.

As I was expecting...none of my batteries work.

I was hoping there would be someone who knew the actual specifications of their batteries, so I could order some.

What do you mean none of your batteries work? Any 18650 will work in that laser except for the issue I mentioned earlier in post #7.

Well that's what I was hoping for...but no bueno.

I'm going to pick up a standard 18650 from an electronics store and see if that'll work. If not...I guess I have a laser pointer for sale?!? Lol

I hope you didn't put the battery in backwards, or another possibility is it may have been DOA. Although that would be a rare thing.
