Default Battery manufactures

hello!

my first post woho!

but my first question is..

all these batteries on ebay, are there any of the manufacturers i should stay away from, compared to others. regarding quality and so on.?

i see here alot of the 18650 li-ion`s are used, but theres like a ton of different brands. they usually all good or should i stay away from some of them.

Getting abit hooked now, and going to try to make a small fun laser

NIMH aren't something you are likely to use in a laser. For Li-ion and Li-Mn batteries stay away from any generic blue ones with no brand name, also the ones that are lesser quality are the UltraFire, TrustFire, and others with Fire in the name, other brands are better.

Look for the good brands like Panasonic, Sony, Stay away from anything with fire in the name like mentioned above. Aw is also a good brand.

Thats basicly all i needed to know Ill look up the more recogniced brands

maby i can ask some more battery questions then while im on the topic

For flashlights, in a work situation, Going to try to make one myself, can i use the same type of batteries for that as i would on a Laser? then i can buy in a bigger quantities instead.

There are many flashlights that take 18650's so yes you should be able to use one battery for both.

Default Re: Battery manufactures

Good Question, although it has been discussed at length.

I have used several hundred Li-Ion cells in various applications . . .

IMO the ONLY cells I would use are those with UL1642 testing . . .

Those brands would be Panasonic, Sanyo, LG, Samsung, and some Sony.

Other brand (xxxfire) cells I used, failed at over 10 times the rate.
