Default Re: AW vs AW IMR

AW is just the brand.

All AW batteries are just good quality rebranded batteries.

IMR refers to the chemistry of the of the battery.

The difference between those two specific batteries is the top one has a protection circuit.

The bottom one does not, and will also support a much higher draw due to the different chemistry.

For your purposes the top one would the better option....

mAh is the capacity. Look at it like a fuel tank. A 3000mAh battery'should' last 4 times as long as a 750mAh.

Default Re: AW vs AW IMR

AW w/ Protection circuits = usually ICR chemistry

AW w/ red packaging = IMR chemistry

ICR Chemistry -> high capacity; for low current applications, under 1.25A current draw

IMR Chemistry -> low capacity; for high drain applications, over 1.25A current draw

You can use the ICR's but the IMR's will give you better performance (more output).

It should be quite obvious to you when your batteries need charge:
1) Your laser will be lower powered, look dimmer
2) Your laser will stop lasing w/o you turning it off

Once you notice the laser turned off by itself, just click the button again to turn it off, don't turn it back on, and charge the batteries.

The only way u can overdischarge them is if you keep turning it back on after seeing the laser stop lasing the first time.

Here is a graph from battery university showing the "ICR" and "IMR" types . . .

IMR is the manganese type and ICR is the cobalt type.
IMR has lower Internal Resistance for higher currents,
but ICR has greater capacity for longer run times.

The "R" stands for round.
