I started this a long time ago ( march ) went through many many revisions added features took features away all for what I think is a great driver. It ended up being 12mm x 9mm so very small & up to 1.4Amps output using a single 18650 or 3.7V li-ion that can supply the current. I will be reflowing a few to test for what I think is the last time ;) I will be sending one to tsteele93 to get scoped, I worked pretty hard on this & I hope it ends up being a good driver ;) they can be paralleled but if they are not the same current they will not function as well as two of the same current.
I wil be putting mine inside a host with an osram PL450 to test myself once I get some more wire :p

Here's a nice picture of the one I will be using in my osram build ;)

I chose a classic green PCB for it :)

:thanks: for looking

UPDATE ON POT VERSION! :D

The POT version is coming ever so closer :D

7749861996_d658951c26.jpg

Time to start the whole testing process again! :D it's still not close to ready for release untill it's been tested thoroughly... It's 9.2mm x 12mm :D

Only 3 are being made for this test batch...

Maybe October they will be available by someone...I'm not going to be selling single units of drivers anymore. Only about 1$ more than the previous version :) and only 0.2mm larger ;)
The pot's are pretty sturdy I've already tried to destroy one as a test ( normal conditions not hitting with a hammer :D ) and it stood up pretty well :) its single turn so it's very sensitive ;) you will need a steady hand as its 50mA - 1150mA...

I have high hopes for this version, it will certainly make my life easier without all these resistors & people will have more choices with the current.. Once again it's BOOST only this is NOT a buckboost, but hopefully it's the microboost alternative once this version gets released :)

:thanks: for looking everyone

Re: AtMaBoost is here

Looking very good. More drivers to play with :)

We need more info like what reverse voltage protection, overvoltage protection etc.
At what current is heatsink needed for the boost driver ?
And the capacitors look big

Nice another boost driver option.;)

What are the heatsinking requirements and how accessible are the components that need to be sinked?

Oh yes of course :)

There is no reverse polarity protection, I did that to keep it small & I added & removed that feature numerous times during my versions & decided to not use it.

No overvoltage protection.

So you basically can't messup with this driver or else... ;)

That being said, less places for the voltage to drop = more efficiency so it should be very efficient, I must calculate it still though.

Heatinking is recommended for anything above 900mA ;) but in general I always heatsink them ;)

The capacitors are big for a reason & yes they are bigger values then they should be but that's just to make it as ripple free as possible ;) the black parts on top should all be heatsinked moderately, they are pretty easy to access by cutting a peice of copper/ aluminum to make it even with everything then just thermal adhesive to a bigger peice of metal ;) make sure to not short the caps though! :)

Err. I remember you starting the design on this... isn't this the exact same IC as the BenBoost?

No, I went back to my original plans ;)

I tried each a few times & chose this one

I'm gonna get the ripple tested soon ;)

Re: AtMaBoost is here

I made a version with a pot actually :p

It was 15mm x 10mm :( too big for my liking so I dropped it ;)

There will be many current choices though ;)

Re: AtMaBoost is here

Shame. Try to get a smaller pot!

Lol if I could find one in the size I want that won't cost 5$ a pot i'd take it :) I'll look into it but for this version I'm keeping it as is ;)

Re: AtMaBoost is here

Really? I found one in 2mm x 2mm size that was 0.43$. The new pot I will be using in the BlitzBuck is around $2, but it's a lot more rugged.

Really? I'll go look harder then :D

But there won't be a pot for a bit, maybe another couple months...

good deal, always nice to have driver options. still waiting for someone to clone a flex that can do 2+A tho....

Yeah... it's the pot I use on the BlitzBuck currently =p
