Default 2xAAA sized 3.7V batteries?

Hey guys, I know some of you use 10440 + a spacer with your 2xAAA pen lasers, but I was wondering if there was a larger sized 3.7V battery out there that was either the size of 2 AAA's or really anything longer than a AAA with the same diameter, rechargeable of course.

What would happen if you put 2x 10440 in a 2x AAA laser pen. Om guessing the.laser would die but have tried it or anyone for that matter?

To answer yoir question I think the 10440 is the only option. I havent come across ant others

For it to work without a spacer you would need a 10880 cell but it does not exist. I made a spacer using some solid copper wires by stripping a length of it and winding it around a pen.

I made a 2x 10440 in parallel using an idea posted somewhere around here (sorry, couldn't find the original thread - credit goes to the originator).

Soldering to a Li-Ion cell is not for the faint of heart though.

edit: I got the idea from here: (8th post) Review of a 5mW 405nm Violet Purple Blue Beam Laser Pen

That would work if it wasn't ~8 volts... That would likely kill a laser designed to run at 3V. Someone needs to invent the 10880, seriously.

It's in parallel. An insulating disc and copper tape wires the two cells in parallel resulting in 3.7V at twice the capacity of a single cell.

I've used it in a couple pen lasers without trouble but you do so at your own risk.

That's very clever. I will have to try that. You'll just have to be careful in soldering Li-ion cells. I was careful no to overheat the cell when I soldered a nub on the positive end of my 18650

yes, heat degrades a Li-Ion cell capacity. I used a temp controlled iron and quick passes to minimize the damage.

I have a really high powered solder gun, plus I don't have any 10440's on hand... Would you be willing to sell one to me? If so, how much would you charge?

I have a few extra but don't have paypal. You might be able to find someone that can do it for you who is nearer (less shipping too)

edit: you should also have a way to charge the battery as I don't know any that can accept a full length "10880" cell. I use a USB li-ion charger circuit with magnetic contacts attached.
