Question 1st laser build

Hi everybody,
I have been reading a lot of threads and researching a bit and I am interested in building my own laser and driver.
So I have bought myself a:
5.6mm 400mW 808nm Infrared IR Laser Diode
Features: .

Output Power 400mw
Wavelength 808nm
Working Voltage 2.2VDC
Working Current 400mA
Working Temperature -10 ℃~+40 ℃
Dimensions TO18 (5.6mm)

Now I am up to figuring out how to make the driver. I know how to solder and put it together I just am not sure what components to use. Like what size capacitor or what size resistors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see any Laser safety Goggles/Glasses in
your list of supplies...

Why would you need a 400mW Near Invisible 808nm
Laser. You can't even see the beam and it is more
dangerous than a visible wavelength Laser because
it is near invisible...

Oh really... Damn it, I thought higher number more power silly me. What is the visible range then?
I also have ordered laser safety goggles
I still have my original question though, do I need to alter the plan on the above mentioned thread to suit the laser or not?

The visible range is around 400-700nm.
Looking at your numbers you would need a 3.1R resistor.
The formula is 1.25/I(A), You may be better off without a capacitor since they can fry the diode.
All of my advice about values assumes it is a standard lm317 circuit.
