HI,

Alright I am planning a ehgemus build with a jib77 driver.
Since these drivers require an input of at least 6v two 3.6v 15266 batteries should do the job.
So my question is how long these batteries will last ?
The battery says 600mah but i think it is not true.
If you need the link of the batteries I'll post it.
BTW: The driver output is around 900ma

You need to know the driver input current to know
how long your batteries will last on a full charge...

The IC logic only only uses about 7 milliamps, so just add this to Iout, so about 884mA for your driver.

So 1200mah divided by 884ma ?
And what is the true capacity of these batteries ?

No... your batteries are in series, aren't they? You don't get to double count capacity ;)

600mah divided by 900mA = 0.667 hours
= 40 minutes

But, the 600mah claimed is never going to be accurate. Try 350 for those batteries.
400 / 900 = ~23 minutes

All the smaller cells are around 300mah. That's why small hosts are not a great idea if you want long run times at higher currents. But 23min is plenty, just keep a charged pair if it's not enough.

10440 and CR2 (15266 / 15270) are virtually identical in terms of capacity and discharge. I played with both a bunch back in my Hotlights days. I was always interested in knowing whether 2x 10440s in the stock holder was better or worse than 2x CR2s. Truthfully, it never made any difference.

That said, the 15266 3.6V blue cells from DX are almost magical in terms of discharge given their actual capacity. I've built a 1.5W coleman CR2 using the same IC and design that Jib uses in his drivers (thanks Jib!), and I am blown away by it to this day. I never would have believed that these CR2s could handle as much drain as they do.

The flip side of that, is that I can't tell you how many of these same blue DX CR2s I've thrown out. They have a tendency to get hot, and then the shrink-tubing material that makes up the blue case, shrinks. It eventually recedes to the point that the metal case of the battery is exposed.

But in terms of run time, what's wrong with 24 minutes? These are rechargeable. Just buy an extra set, and you're set. Where could you ever need more than 48 minutes of run time before finding a power outlet?

Machro;

The true capacity of a "15270" lithium ion cell is ~340mah.

IMO this is not enough for 900mah output.

I would go to a larger cell.

I promise you, it is. I'm drawing 1.5A from those same cells. It's amazing, but I'll show you on video if you want - once I figure out how to restore my bricked phone :(

Sorry about your phone. Making expensive bricks really hurts.
What model? How did you brick it?

It's a Galaxy S Vibrant.

I bricked it trying to go to Sweet Honey 3.5. Total brick too, couldn't get into recovery mode. Ended up figuring out Odin instead of recovery mode, got back to 2.1, and now I'm setting up Zendroid instead. Seems to be a nice rom so far. At least I have a phone back ;)

I hate decision between batteries.
On one hand bigger cells last longer but on the other hand the host would not look so cool.

Macho: What's your use-case? I still don't understand what the situation is that demands greater than 24 minutes of laser use between charges?
