first thing i did with it did was light a 532 module. at 3.5 - 4.0V it liked 320 mA.
i see thru the muddy water. now i can play!

prolly need a 'scope next tho, wish i would have kept the old, room warming tube unit i had.....

Yes, these lab psu are very handy with laser experimentation and they also charg li-ion batteries very fast and accurate.

Here is a picture of my PSU

I've got one just like these too, one question though, how do you know when your Li-ions are done charging?

This method only apply to 3.7V Li-ion battery.
- Set the voltage at 4.1 Volt. Don't go beyond 4.18V, it is bad for the battery.
- Set the current at 1/2C. C is the capacity of the battery i.e. the current will be 1.2A for 2400mAh batteries.
- put the +wire of the psu to the +side of the battery
- the same for the minus side.
- charge until 3% of the C is shown at current display i.e. 0.075A is shown for 2400mAh.

That is how I do it. For faster charging use 1C but sometime the capacity of the battery isn't accurate and it will get too hot. I never exceed 1C.

With the price of these things on ebay ever spiralling, my decision to build or buy has become buy. I have enough parts to make my own (including the meters) but its just not worth my time.

I might get two of them, one for the radio bench and one for the electronics bench *heads off to ebay to add to watch list*

The cheapest I found on FleaBay is $154.00 shipped...

New YH-305D DC Regulated Power Supply (0~30V, 0~5A) Adjustable | eBay

Where did you get one for $65.00 with shipping....

Yea, I know. Just extra info :D

The $64 model has no LO/HI Amps button. You will need that for low current lasers.

Good and cheap PS.

Not recommended for charging Li-ion cells- especially for cheap Ultrafires.

Probably me. It was my post.

Let's say you want to charge "Ultrafire 4000mAh".

Now as experienced user explain how you going to charge them ?

There are many people here who read our posts, and do not know 'do' and 'don't' when charging Li-ion.

It might be a good idea rather then saying its "Not Recommended" to use this as a Lion charger because they might "read our posts, and do not know 'do' and 'don't' when charging Li-ion" to Explain the proper way then say dont do it or its "Not Recommended".

Just my .02 cents.

Edit: By the Way i have bought 2 cells from the link in your sig not to long ago and there great.

To make it clear: Do not use power supply to charge any li-ion battery with unknown charging characteristics. Do not play with fire. Or if you gonna do it anyway - have fire extinguisher ready.
