I have recently been wanting to make another light, so I am in search for something bright. I have a few T6 lights that I bought and for a single LED they appear to be very bright, the site I bought them from advertised them to be 1600LM but I doubt that's even close to true but they are still very bright. So that brings me back to my question, which single cree LED do you think is the brightest or has the potential to be the brightest?

The T6 is still the brightest as far as my knowledge of LED trends goes. You may be able to seek out a binned variety for more efficiency if you like. After the T6, I don't know of any single emitter-emitters out there. Wait for more replies - this is only as far as I know.

I think the SST-90 is the brightest single-die LED, with 2250 lumens at 9A.

^^ I didn't think that were single die.

Good luck forming a nice beam with those!

I think the XMLs ar the brightest. The U2 bin LEDs are brighter. They also have more of a blue tint though.

I'm a member of that forum as well! Nice people.

For a CREE, I'm sure Dr_Evil has it right, the XM-L U2 bin is the brightest. There are even U3-U6 bins, but then again they aren't single die.

Besides CREE, Luminous has the CST-90, which is just a tad brighter than the SST-90.

The CST-90 seems like it's 450 lumen more then the SST-90.
That's allot in my book when you put a nice reflector around it :D

SST-90 - 2,250 - 3,000K – 6,500K - 10W – 30W

CST-90 - 2,700 - 3,000K – 6,500K - 10W – 50W

Cheers, sm.

cst is the copper mounted sst chip LED
cbt is the copper mounted sbt chip LED

s is domed, b is windowed.

domed has higher extraction efficiency vs flat window, but window provides a smaller source area.
