What lights do you have?

I was really on the fence between the k50 and tk61. The battery charging feature was really the big thing fighting for the k50, but the tk61 ui, and better quality and performance won out in the end. But as I've never owned any of the "k" series, I can only go off experience with the quality and ui aspects. Having owned the tk75 and tk61, I can really say that from now on, I'm definitely drawn toward Fenix off the bat.

I'm a huge fan of Fenix lights, but if you ask me to choose between the TK61vn, and the K50vn, it's going to be a very tough choice.

It's less the battery charging difference for me, and more the issue of the UI. The K50 UI is superior in that you have six modes, including a moonlight mode, and you can cycle the modes in either direction.

TK61 has only four settings, and for me, the low of ~30 lumens is way too bright. It's enough to ruin your night vision. If you wanted to go from medium to low, you also have to cycle through high and turbo, which again means ruining your night vision.

Fenix would win hands down if they added another button, so you can cycle modes in either direction, maybe 1-2 more intermediate levels, and a moonlight mode. Until they do though, they are at a disadvantage.

At the very least, I don't understand why they didn't adapt the 5 steps, to follow in line with their RC40. Granted that light, on lowest setting is bright enough for me to read a book by, from ceiling bounce. Used it last thursday during a power outage.

See that's what I meant by not owning them, so not really having too much of an argument.

I like what the d40a does. It has two buttons and cycles normally. Unless you start the light in moonlight, then it cycles up, preserving your night vision. Very nice feature. I personally would give up a fair amount of bells and whistles for side buttons though. Rear button on a big light is a pain. I suppose the control ring does help, but I love my side controls.

Come to think of it
Tk61, tk75, MX25L3, D40a, all side controls all my favorites. My shockervn gets left out because of its size and rear button, (although it is a beast!)

If you leave the light on then you never need to use the rear button. Just use the ring to control level or standby mode. Rear button is used once so not an issue to many people

That would be great, if the standby mode wasn't between turbo, and strobe, but the very first mode, before moonlight.

My "dream" light would have a combination UI, a magnetic ring with which you can preset the output, 3 side buttons, so you can turn on the light, and cycle through the levels one handed, and for good measure, a tailcap button, which acts as a lockout, momentary on, and strobe if double clicked.

For single button operation nothing beats the zebralights yet. For magnetic ring, the nitecore srt lights are great.

Without a doubt, the dumbest UI light I have, are the Niwalkers. There is no rear switch, the detents on the control ring are soft, the first mode is strobe, the second is standby/off, and then it ramps up. I can't count how many time I've blinded myself instead of turning the stupid thing off. Keep meaning to send it off to Vinh again, so he can get rid of strobe for me.

Just placed an order for MM15VN, S200C2VN, V25CVN, V11RVN, & C20CVN, and also bought parts to build a convoy m1 & c8 with xml2. One at 4a qlite, one with the fet direct drive. :) can't wait.

Hopefully the v11rvn will be here today or tomorrow. Also got the aa extender to run 14500 cells, and aa. Should turn into a great edc.

Lots of edc worthy lights on the way. I felt like all I had was huge power houses, and nothing too pocketable.

The V11Rvn is a fantastic little light... love mine. The only downside to it, is the low is really not quite that low. I mean it is very low, just not compared to some of my other lights, especially the RRT01vn.

The v11rvn is infinitely variable. What do you mean not as low ? I can go from 0-900 led lumen. Way Lower than moonlight on my d40avn. I think it's impossible to get lower lol I can't even tell it's on when the ring is all the way turned.

It goes so low I can't illuminate my hand at 1ft lol, but so high it blows away my d25cvn

I can't wait for the c20cvn. 18650 sunwayman. The only one vinh has done and I was lucky enough to snag it.
Looks like a larger v11rvn really

The MM15vn really piqued my interest but alas, I just don't possess the money to buy such a light :cryyy:

Maybe when I'm older than 17 I'll have a job and I can buy all of Vinh's lights :eg:

Livinloud, how do you like the K50?

The v11rvn is infinitely variable. What do you mean not as low ? I can go from 0-900 led lumen.

The step between 0 lumens, and light you can see, is what I mean. Many lights have a much lower low. The RRT01, and my keychain light are both capable of basically a glow. Generally speaking I can't see myself ever needing that low of a low, but it's nice to have in case I'm ever trapped underground for a while :p

I really can't wait for the Mm15vn. It'll be my first flooder.
It is expensive though.
I see some guys on cpf buy every one of Vinh's lights when he releases them.
Sometimes it's 4 a week from 100-350$ I do buy alot, but I can't afford every single one.
I usually go for the must have lights, (still plenty of those)

I really couldn't imagine lower than the v11rvn. I hold my finger directly in front and it barely lights up my finger. How low is enough haha. In a pitch black room, it won't hit a white wall 10ft away at all. :)

I've bought many of his lights, but definitely not all. He does release new ones often, and frankly, while I think all are great, many overlap a great deal in terms of what they do.

Unless something comes up that does over 800kcd, in terms of throw, I don't think I'll be buying another thrower for a while. My next light will be EDC sized, and the MM15vn will be the last BIG purchase.

Only other light I'm considering is a burned in X60, dedomed, but I'm really on the fence about it.

About the Low... idk, I think on mine, the low is really not too low, it's too bright when my eyes are night adapted. Then again, I'm very sensitive to light at night. For example my phone last to be face down so the LED doesn't bother me while charging, and a taped up basically every lit up LED around with electrical tape. Even with blinds down, and close, I'm usually able to navigate perfectly inside, at night, with from just the light that seeps through from the outside. Normally if I'm watching TV, only the TV is on, nothing else, the light from the screen is enough for me to eat.

I dont put my phone face down but if the LED goes off while im awake, I have to check it or the flashingnLED will drive me nuts (brightness and blinking). I hate having lights on in the house, lights off tv on is bright enough for me as well. Sounds like we have similar vision lol

When I was younger, college/high school, once in a while would end up in a game of frisbee, that went on, basically until it was too dark to see. My problem was, I could still see just fine, but my friends, not so much.

I turned off the LED alert altogether. With all the emails coming in, it would never be off for more than a few minutes.
