Really? FT was that slow? Thats weird! Ive ordered from them NUMEROUS times and I was actually surprised at how fast it was! Fastest time was 6 DAYS!!!!! Slowest was 2 weeks. My GF just bought something from them and its been 2 weeks with no package yet but thats prob due to the whole Li-Ion crap shoot.

IE posted a great cool white (U2) vs neutral white (T6) comparison on the first page, iirc. If not ill pull one from CPF and post it for you. U2 will be brighter and throw better, IMO. However T6 will be closest to what natural lighting would be; house lighting, sun, etc... IMO they both have their pros and cons. Since I enjoy throwers, I prefer the cool white bin but I also have a T6 Convoy that I use frequently.

You cant go wrong with either of them but I will say this; if you plan on using the SRK for close up illuminating (10-30 feet) a U2 might be too cool and blow your vision out. What i mean by this is, it might be too bright and reflect off the objects you are illuminating, thus causing you to squint. This will happen with the T6 as well but, at least to me, it is less obvious since the U2 seems brighter. Only other way I can explain it is 532nm vs 405nm. 532nm at 100mW is obviously brighter than a 405nm at 100mW

Yep, shipping was pretty slow but not nearly as slow as DX. Most likely aus shipping is much slower than US shipping. My package also had Li-ions so maybe that made the process slower

I saw those comparison shots that IE posted. They seemed to show the difference quite well so I'm confident with going with the U2 bin. I like your analogy but sadly I haven't even seen 405 in person :( I really should invest $8 to get a cheap 405 off eBay just to experience that wavelength. Thanks for your help

Well you can think of it as 100mW of 532nm vs 650nm then ;)

Please post your reactions of the SRK

Hey guys,

Last question ;)

As far as batteries goes I initially decided to go with the panasonic 3100mah protected NCR18650A batteries from FT because they have one of the best capacity to price ratio. Although as I am using these in a SKR I imagine the battery drain to be quite high. Because of this I have heard people recommend other batteries for high drain lights such as the Panasonic NCR18650PD 18650 with its 10 amp discharge rating, although would this be ok to use in a SKR since it is non-protected?

I have also heard many people recommend the Sanyo UR18650F 18650 2600mAh since it has less voltage sag under high discharges and thus will last longer.

So considering all that has been said, which would be the best battery for the SKR?

:thanks:

On a budget I would go for the Sanyo UR18650F. I own more of them than any other battery type, and they do perform well for my needs. I rarely if ever run down my batteries completely to where protection circuit can kick in, but it's a nice safety layer. I own more of these, than any other protected battery. (IIRC around 30 cells.)

The NCR18650PD's are great, but no protection circuit, and I doubt you'll see any benefit from them in the SRK.

My vote would either for the 3400mAh protected cells, or the Sanyo UR18650F. The Sanyos are a bit shorter, so you may fund them more useful in the future (the panasonics fit in most, but not all 18650 lights).

Thanks IE

I think I'll go with the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh batteries because of the higher capacity :)
Although when you said that the sanyos where shorter than the pana's FT seems to say other wise,

FT said:
BRAND: SANYO UR18650F 18650 Protected 2600mAh

Dimensions us | metric
DEPTH 18.3 mm
HEIGHT 69.8 mm
WIDTH 18.3 mm

FT said:
BRAND: Panasonic NCR18650B Protected 3400mAh

Dimensions us | metric
DEPTH 18.1 mm
HEIGHT 69.4 mm
WIDTH 18.1 mm

I'm not sure of the validity or accuracy of FT's measurements but it seems that the panas are shorter  What do you think?

:thanks:

Scratch that, just compared several of them. They are almost identical in length. Idk, maybe I was thinking of the unprotected ones :undecided:
