What do I do with this stuff?

As some of you may know, I recently released the "Pman special" (see sig) and bought a lot of B68 lights that have XP-E led's in them. I've got:

which is something like 22 of them and was wondering what to do with them. Seems like I should make something.
So, anybody have any ideas or would be willing to share what you have done with some of your pieces parts from lights that you used as hosts for lasers?
Have piles of stuff but these are the ones that are the most common.
The B68 lights "say" that they put out 240 lumen's but like most lights, that is probably an exaggeration. Also, these are all the 3 mode versions (hi/lo/strobe). Seems like it would be kind of cool to hook them all together for a massive parallel weird Hi/Lo/strobe thingy.
Anyways, thanks for input.

Pete

Any possibility to mount them all on something like a hps light housing. With the big reflector in the housing it might concentrate all the light to make a serious spot light. I'm sure that's a very unoriginal idea lol. Maybe something actually creative will come to mind. :)

You could make a really cool light for your house!

Go to the hardware store (or online I guess) and grab some I or C channel aluminum and mount them all on it. Solder them all in series and power it from household AC. You could make a simple half wave rectifier to power it:

Code:
       DIODE    RESISTOR
------->|----+--/\/\/\---(+)--->|-->|-->|-->|-->|-+
             |                                    |
             |               +-|<--|<--|<--|<--|<-+
~ AC         = CAP          |     LEDS
             |               +->|-->|-->|-->|-->|-+
             |                                    |
-------------+-----------(-)---|<--|<--|<--|<--|<-+

Since you have 22 LEDs which have a forward voltage of 3.5v @ 1A, the total voltage needed is 77V. There is a lot of room for variation here so you would need to do a little trial and error to get it right on 1A. I think if you use a high power 10ohm resistor it should be close, but get two because you will probably need to parallel them together to get closer to 1A. The cap isn't really critical since this is driving LEDs, so you could just steal some big electrolytic ones off some broken circuit. (make sure they a rated 100v or above) It would be a good idea to put a PTC between the wall and the circuit too.

Or, invest in an arduino or something similar, and either make a programmable cube or flat plate, to where you could have a wave effect on the LED's.

Or there's always the option of turning it into a sphere of LED's to roll around, that'd be kinda cool :D

All interesting ideas gentlemen. I'll have to think about your suggestions. Any more ideas, keep them coming.
I am stuck right now at home giving myself IV antibiotics and haven't worked in a few weeks and it will be at least 2 more weeks before returning to work so I am on lock down as far as $ is concerned. Already built basically every laser thing I had parts for and noticed all this stuff (I keep everything neat in containers from breakdowns) that matched and figured others had run into this kind of thing before.
Greatly appreciate all the input guys. Really.
Main issue right now is not spending $ and using what I have on hand.

Pete

Currently trying what I think is called the "freeze-pop" method of getting an Inova X's head to push out for dissasembly to eventually turn it into some kind of laser. Read that someone tried it and it split a seam so hoping that doesn't happen;)

Well if you need anything Pete, I can send a tman package :) I've got some great stuff I'm sure you could make awesome. I'll put something together to keep you busy!

You don't have to do that "T" :)
Makes me smile just seeing your kid wearing the oversize glasses;)
I can always find things to do. Never ending actually. The truth is I've got lots of stuff to mess with and never enough time even though I'm home for now. It's what happens when you get into hobbies and start collecting stuff.
I've got a few things I would like to complete today such as putting a black border around my big GITD screen and painting the dowels flat black.
Need to look at a couple pieces of stereo equipment for functionality testing and if they aren't worth messing with start disassembling them as I keep certain things before chucking the rest.
Problem is I end up on the forum most of the day as I can't help checking what is going on since I'm home and there's computers everywhere :).
