Surefire flashlights?

I'm interested in a high-powered LED flashlight, especially one with a long battery life. I'm considering getting a Surefire flashlight, specifically an E2L Outdoorsman, some time within the next year (if my budget allows it). I've heard a lot of good things about Surefire, but some people on CPF have complained about battery issues.

Does anyone here have experience with Surefire flashlights? What do you think of Surefire?

Also, are there any cheap alternatives to Surefire? I've heard Inova is another good company. Does anyone know if this is true?

Never owned one. I do own a Cree Q5 flashlight I got for 20 bucks at DX. It's REALLY powerful for my needs and has a very long battery life (I've never run out of power, I just recharge the battery for safety purposes).

I have the Surefire G3 and the E2 executive elite, and I love them. I've abused the heck out of them and they haven't failed me yet. The problem isn't with the batteries, it's the price tag. I've bought a couple of LED flashlights from DX for under $20 each and they are brighter and seem to hold up ok (I wouldn't mount them on any firearms though). That's why I trust Surefire, they are combat proven. However, $45 from DX will buy one hell of a bright LED flashlight!!...vs. the $350 Surefire alternative :/

I have owned several Surefire lights, only due to the fact that I can get a hefty discount on them.

They are of high quality. I however don't believe that they are worth paying the retail price for. Believe it or not, but I am highly impressed with the Q5, R2, and P7 LED flashlights from www.dealextreme.com
They cost a fraction of the price and their output is amazing good.

Also, the rechargeable batteries from DX are great as well.

I've got the Surefire L4, and with its 5W LED it doesn't mess around. Its one sturdy and tough little flashlight and doesn't go through batteries all that fast but it was exspensive. $125 if my memory severs me right :rolleyes:

Wow, those all seem to be good alternatives. While I'm still leaning towards Surefire's E2L Outdoorsman due to its very long (>100 hours) battery life, I'll definitely consider the other companies that have been mentioned. :)

Hey, be sure to let us know what you end up getting. :)

Just remember....Surefire=Money Pit(not worth it) :)
Shoot, I even work for a gun manufacturer.

stick with DX as opposed to surefire, leds are brighter last longer, have better batt life as opposed to surefires incandescent modules

Does anyone know if Coast/LED Lenser flashlights are very good?

The folks on CPF seem to have a mixed opinion of them.

I have a led lensar x21 its a very nice light and very well built and its powerful and focusable! Its aand all around great light light i love mine!

i have a sure fire led. it was 65 bucks from the local sporting goods store. it is almost as bright as one of my hid head lights on my car. and i get about 11 hours or run time.

My Surefire 6P cost me $30 brand new, and I love that thing, I've dropped it and left it on accidentally for much longer than the recommended ten minutes, they're very hardy lights, but a tad overpriced. If you can find one cheap, get it, you'll never regret it.
