This is a review of a great torch which I got from GearBest.

Many of you know that May is a member here...

Use coupon code: M170CM

Features:

* 3 X XML-2 LED (2400 lumens on high)
* Stainless steel bezel
* Aluminum reflector (smooth)
* AR glass lens
* 3 mode (H,M,L) Also can enter a variable dimming mode

Some Pics:

Batteries:

Uses 4 X 18650 cells in parallel...

Comes with the adapter shown in my picture below in case you want to use the shorter non-protected cells. It also fits protected cells button top or flat...

Spot and throw:

I was impressed with how tight the spot is with this multi-LED light!

Here's a picture at 30'...

Notes:

Very high quality craftsmanship in my opinion. And looks really cool too. Like a smaller version of the FF4!

I like the modes. H, M, L (no strobe) If you double click, you can also enter a variable dimming mode. I leave it in the H, M, L operation because I like that best...

5500K temp is perfect. Has memory too.

Switch operation is flawless. Hold for a second to turn on. When on, each press of the switch will switch modes.

Hold for about 2 seconds to turn off...

This is a great value, quality 2400 lumen torch!

pretty cool.
I still think many of the deals are almost too good to be true.
I just need to go buy a flashlight from them sometime.
Nice review btw :yh:

As long as you get a legit emitters, good heatsinking and a decent driver the cheap Chinese flashlights are phenomenal, outperforming everything up until the crazy expensive price range.

I got an X8 from dx not long ago, I took a look at the inside and heat sinking is crazy good and it actually draws 3a from a single 18650. Only problem cheap flashlights is that buying one leads to buying many :D

Did you actually measure the current with different input voltages, or are you saying that is has current regulation because it has modes?

No I did not measure current, but there is a board in there that gives the H, M, L modes...

So I'm guessing that the board has to regulate current in order to give the 3 modes.

Also there is another function. If you double click, it goes to some kind of variable dimming.

I leave it in the H, M, L operation because I like that best...

No. PWM is typically used for the modes. PWM is not the same as constant current. Not even close.

Yeah I don't honestly know if it has PWM... (per link below, it does not)

Here's a link that shows some more information: (states constant current driver, but then gives some output current measurements with different voltage supply)
http://www.fasttech.com/products/16...oche-m170-3-cree-xm-l-u2-1a-3-mode-2400-lumen (better pricing at GearBest though)

And I just did a current test using a single 32650 Li-Ion...

Battery current draw measured at the tail (of battery) on high:

* 4.2 volts - 4.8 Amps
* 3.8 Volts - 4.7 Amps
