Repairing/Replacing the reflector on a vintage flashlight?

So I have a vintage Everready Caption flashlight, and I absolutely love this thing. Unfortunately the reflector is tarnished and scratched to a point where it throws very little light. The reflector is made of plastic, and its pretty chipped and cracked too.

I don't know if its possible, but would there be any way to remove the silver coating from the plastic, possibly polish the plastic to remove some of the scratches, and then re-apply a silver coat of some kind?

Thanks!

You are better off buying a replacement reflector. Take the dimensions of it and check online for a metal reflector. Obviously keep the old one since it is vintage and you want to have the original parts. "restoring" the original reflector will do more damage than good.
