As most of you laser enthusiasts that also enjoy the DIY aspect of the hobby, I have been searching for cheap yet decent hosts.
China seems to be where the action is and of course this leads to the inevitable language barrier ^_^
Just found this ad for a cheap little host and it made me chuckle.

My favorite quote in it? "Because the battery can not be by air, so it does not take batteries"
Wow! This flashlight could be the answer to high battery prices!

I live in Quebec.... and I must have sounded like a jerk
speaking French the first few years.... I probably still do
but no-one is laughing at me. Instead they help me...

Making fun of someone trying to communicate in English (no
matter how funny it sounds) when their 1st language is not
English doesn't seem superior or right somehow...

BTW... How is your Chinese...:whistle::beer:

It does depend on how it is done.
I have experienced people poking fun at my English in good spirit, and laughed with them. Particularly the same people who would send a bit of discrete grammatical advice by PM. :)

@Jerry: My chinese is good; Café?

I would not laugh at someone who try to speak a second language. It is very hard to do so.

Sometimes i start conversation in french, then i jump to english, and french and english again with Regulars customers, then they look at me very strange.

I tease my girlfriend about her french accent all the time (she is from Quebec as well).
Anyone I have met knows right away that I am never malicious or cruel.
I try to see the humor in every situation and this one is easy.
I have "translated" a few ads from Chinglish to English but my efforts were not used.
It is funny, just accept it instead of taking offense.
I also notice this thread was hijacked from the beginning..... Thanks Bee

You opened a thread laughing at a foreigner communicating
in (bad) English... and I responded...

I don't see any hijacking just because I happen to disagree
with your thinking...

BTW it will take a lot more than that to offend me...
(I speak 3 languages...)

I was forced to take German and French though school. One at a time would have been fine but learning 2 at a time without using either in day to day form was impossible for me.
I still learned a little German but it would take about a 2 month vacation to be decent with the language ;)
Edit: the link I gave actually has a decent little host for AA battery type (14350 li-ion I think, have never used them)
That sale is dead but they are still on fleabay for 2 bucks apiece with free shipping!

This sort of thing ALWAYS cracks me up, and once I've found a really horribly translated page, I can't stop reading till I've found all the "goodies" in it. Oh, I definitely feel for them, I know they're trying and having a hard go of it, but it's STILL funny, just as funny as it would be if a strictly English speaking company tried to translate to Chinese and totally slaughtered it, which I'm sure happens all the time.

So anyway, several months ago I got it in my head that I was going to get myself a USB digital oscilloscope. I never did, but I did pick out the one I wanted (and still do). The funny part was during the most intense part of the research into what was available, I found a kind of a quick user guide for the SoftScope software for the Hantek USB DSO models, BADLY translated to English.

Digital VISTA USB DSO 5200A Oscilloscope 200MHz

Lots of goodies in this one, but this line in particular had me dying laughing that night. Things are funnier anyway when you're tired after doing a lot of searching and reading on the Net:

DSO2090/2150/2250 Softscope, when you operate fatigue, all channels can be used?Mouse button aroundTo carry out adjustment: voltage and time base. The workers do not bother you

Considering that my co-workers frequently bother me when I "operate fatigue", I was particularly interested in deciphering the message to figure out their trick to get them to stop, lol.

And this one:

DSO2090/2150/2250 Softscope bandwidth restrictions, so that you observe the low-frequency signal,
- This point, you may be found in the above miracle

Lol, I don't even know what to say... What's more amazing, that it does miracles, or that the user may be found in them? XD
