Hi Guys,

I've been away from flashlights for far too long.

I'd like to buy a decent(or good/great) EDC flashlight for under $100.

Just to give you an idea, my previous favorite light was the SureFire 6P, with I think 80 lumen LED in it. In terms of size I would like something that's the same or smaller. Would be nice if it was a combo in terms of throw and flood, but if I have to pick one throw is more important to me.

Modes, would be great but aren't a priority. I'm more concerned with having as much light as possible in a very reliable package.

Any advice?

Thanks for any answers/recommendation.

That first ultrafire looks very promising:)

Is the 900 lumen rating anywhere near the truth or is this kind of like the 1W green lasers?

I had a light that looks exactly like that second one... but the LED died on me out of the blue... I got it off of flebay and it was also supposedly 900 lumen... it was very bright, and would have been great if it didn't crap out after getting dropped once.

I'm still using the host actually, now with a spare p6 drop in I had.

@cd520 - That is an awesome looking light, and for the price I might just get it for the hell of it. Unfortunately it's about 3-4 times larger than what my pockets can accommodate.

I found the surefire g3 to be just a little too long, but the 6P was perfect for carrying around. The new generation 6PX™ Pro LED Flashlights from SureFire is interesting, but fact that it only has 2 modes and is only 200 lumens kind off puts me off.

If you want absolute throw without having an insanely large head on the flashlight, I'd recommend an R2 or Q5 flashlight.

That quark would be perfect... if the head wasn't so big:(

What "real" output should I be aiming for as a maximum in a small light. That quark shows 450, and based on the video appears quite a bit brighter than the "900 lumen" lights I had. I had two so far and both crapped out pretty fast. That's the reason I'm willing to spend more... I want something I know won't break after a few hours of use.
