Now lets talk about this little marvel: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.24220~r.43033281 .Only 9,72 USD.

Although this flashlight is in the market since october 2009, I think that a review of it is needed... I think that this flashlight is a "must have" for every flashaholic...

Finnaly I purchased 2 of this marvel. It normally comes with an Warm white Osram Golden Dragon (plus)

<< EXTERNAL DESING >>

It has the typical Akoray k-106/TrustFire F20 desing...in short, quality. Smooth and lubed square threads. I love this body desing.

Is pretty. It weights a little more than the F20. It has GITD tailcap button and o-rings everywhere (all are GITD)

Body color: goldish-brownish...
The clip is not as bad as many people say.

The threads came slightly lubed and clean. Remark again the high quality of the threads (almost indestructible)

It has a coated glass lens, OP reflector (designed for the OSRAM, some units come with a reflector designed for XR-E)

The switch has good feeling. You can compare with others:

<< LED and DRIVER >>

Good: Osram Golden Dragon Plus. Not very efficient, but comparable with a Cree Q3. However, with 14500 is a beast!!!

With Ni-Mh gives about 130 lumens. With 14500 starts at 225lumen and stabilizes at 200.
The driver board appears to have good eficiency, and works with AA/14500 with no issue. It came with aceptable solders:

<< CURRENT DRAW / RUNTIME >>

Alkalines 1,5A (about 90-100 lumens about 30 minutes)
Ni-Mh 2,2A (about 130 lumens about 55 minutes)
14500 1,4A (about 225 lumens max about 45 minutes)

<< BEAMSHOTS >>

Most of the AA-S1 come with a WARM white tint, very good for some people, bad for others.
This flashlight is more flooder than thrower.
It has a very floody beam with almost no hotspot.... very smooth beam.

Sorry for the bad photos.

AA-S1 NiMh 3 meters.

Now comparing to a flood to throw flashlight with same LED but diferent tint. AA-S1 is at the bottom and at 3 meters from the wall.

Ceiling shot AA-S1

At 30ctms distance

Sorry didnt took photos with 14500

<< Summary>>

Little marvel. With Ni-Mh produces more than aceptable light, and with 14500 is a pocket rocket. However only 1 mode.

Veeery recommended
