The uniquefire will have the best throw. One guy told at DX that it iluminate the top of 75meters tall trees from 220 metres distance.

ALso the 32,70USD eastward should be good too. Deep reflector........

yes I've seen that, but some guy also said that the 1st one (sku.50513) has the deepest reflector so it will have the best throw (IIRC)...
I'll probably buy the 1st one

Hey 3zuli, my question wasn't dumb or useless, I wanted to know what an XM-L was. Its not like that isn't related to this thread. Asking a question doesn't deserve negative reps! :tsk:

I've got a triple MC-E light (love it, it's insane) and personally I love it, it has some pretty epic throw :D for having twelve dies, but I digress. Single LED lights at high brightness are much cooler and easier to carry/power.

Time to upgrade to triple XM-L!

That'd be nice, but there's no way I can see to get into this thing, and the current set up is so ridiculously big I use it just for fun really, it's not the most practical of lights to carry.

Haha, my thoughts were since it's already so impractical you might as well take it further. :D Then again, at that point you might as well take it to HID...

It's not really got the right proportions for an HID setup. I'll see if I can get some pics of it tomorrow next to my Arctic and 18650 for size comparison.

The one draw back with those, is the run time...

That's why I modified a 2D Mag using 32600's. I'm getting some good feedback from buyers on CPF... (and those guys at CPF know flashlights)

Check the thread: :)
FS: 1000 Lumen XM-L T6 Maglite Modification Kit - Parts, or Complete Flashlight!

Well, I got off to somewhat of a rocky start. I installed two IMR 26650 cells and hit the switch and nothing happened. It turns out the two IMR cells weren't making contact - the cell's
insulatation was preventing a solid contact. A little wierd, as I have three IMR 26650 cells in my Mag85 and have never had a problem with that light. So I fashioned a crude "button top"
using aluminum foil. I strongly doubt it will ever come loose. And if it does, there is nothing for it to touch except the fiberglass sleeve. Now it works. Boy, does it work!

Super bright. LuxLuthor's Destructive Icandescent bulb tests indicate my Mag61 and Mag85 are putting out 1200-1300 lumens and the XM-L T6 appears to match them. The thing that makes the comparison
difficult is the XM-L's hot spot is much smaller than the the Hotwires. This light is a real thrower! My only regret is not opting for the battery monitor, a really cool option. Thanks for a fine product jayrob!

My kit came yesterday while I was at work, but a child's basketball game came before installing my new toy last night.
I had readied my 2D Mag by removing the switch and cutting off the tower, soldering on positive and negative wires, cut the cam off the stock reflector and while I was at it I trimmed the rear of the switch(mine has the spring) to easily accept flat top cells.
So I came home tonight, broke out the soldering iron and installed the ready made heatsink, driver and led, dropped in 2x26650's in a 1" pvc sleeve and WOW!!!
VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
I compared it to my Magalennium-B running a FM1909 on 3xIMR18650's and I can see the spot of the XM-L inside the FM1909 beam!
This is my new house light, the low mode is perfect for most uses, med for when I need to see further and high is Turbo!
Jayrob, Thank you, thank you for putting this together, very bright and very useful,I now have the perfect user Mag!

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is any practical difference between #1 and #2, except for the aesthetic style of the body. IE - same guts, same output, same runtime, same in their entirety except for shape :)

Not trying to get this thread off track, but a lot of people prefer P7's to MC-E's. But XM-L outclasses both! :D Though for me it's not really worth considering until it comes in at least a semi-neutral tint.

They have 1D and 1A as well...
Cutter Electronics

I'm using the 1D for my Mag mod.

And it's plenty neutral! It's so bright. It blows away my P7...

well if I had $120 to spend, I'd buy it... but I don't  I also bought 2 more 18650's so if one is dead I just throw in another
btw these lights aren't totally the same, each has a bit different reflector so they should have various beam specs
