Ok so I recently bought 2 C8 from fasttech, one was suppose to be for a red LED from a projector the other for the MRcrouse Heatsink GB. well for now I've ditched the red LED build for now as I had these parts laying around to make this build happen, so that's what I did. So the parts I used where a C8 host, a XM-L2 emitter on a 20mm Star, East-092 Driver!

Sorry about the quality I usally use my DSLR but didn't have the time to get it out well doing the build so I just used an Iphone 4 that I had laying around.

First I started by breaking it down.

Here is the original driver and emitter.

Little baby emitter.

Pill after getting the emitter off. pretty decent side.

back side.

Now you might notice the 20mm star doesn't quite fit in there perfectly so I shaved it down a bit on the sides to get a nice tight fit. this was just before adding the Artic aluminum.

Driver with the spring added.

All complete

Polished the Bezel!

After Glow Ring!!

So this this is pulling 3.65A at the tail cap on high with a NCR18650B cell. and the best part its direct drive in high but still retains its 5 modes.

Thanks For looking!!

Schweeeet! Is that reflector metal or plastic?
Where does one buy this fancy East-092 Driver? I just bought a AMC (tops at 3A) but if this thing has a direct drive mode than I will cancel mine in a heatbeat

Im still fresh to flashlight realm; is this XM-L2 more efficient than a t6 or u2/3
I hear at 3A it gets ~1300lm

I don't understand why you have to apologize for using the iPhone camera, I think it dowse a great job. Now the big question, how is the light,'the power compared to the original?

Good stuff awillis! I especially like the polished bezel and the GITD o-ring.

Any plans for copper sinkpads? :)

Bacon, I got some East-092's from FastTech here: $3.07 3V~5V 5-Mode LED Flashlight Direct-Drive Driver Circuit (East-092) - 17mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

It's been out of production now due to poor quality control.
Here's the explanation about it: FastTech's East-092 Driver. Anyone getting low current output on high? | BudgetLightForum.com

sorry for not getting back to the tread but Bacon I believe its metal. and yes I plan on using a copper sinkpad at some point. I've finally got a little spare time so I took some photo's of it in action and I hope you like!

Sorry but I live in the city so it's hard to get some comparison shot's of the different outputs but I did my best!

It amazes me that its at night with a flashlight and you can not only see the beam, but also the stars and moon.

I tried this guy a while back and he said he didnt have any left, unfortunately.

He didnt actually say which XM-L2 emitter he used the XML T6 U2 etc are less efficient than their respective XM-L2 emitter versions ie T6, U2 ;)

So which one did you use the T6 from fasttech? Ive only seen the U2's at illumination supply.

Great Q from Ryansoh! ;) "Any plans for copper sinkpads? :)"

Great job and impressive pics! +1 and

Edit: Later then, must spread some first...:(
