Cyclops Thor X Colossus HID MOD

Got bored one day and decided to take out and Mod my old Cyclops Thor X Colossus to a 35 Watt HID and it turned out very nice and iv left it on for 2 hours with out recharge or problems. At some point l will see just how long it can last on 1 charge. It uses a 12V 8Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery.

Items needed To build:
Cyclops Thor X Colossus: Around $50-$60

H4 35W Single Motorcycle HID Kit
I get my HID kits from DDM It cost $22.50

And some zip ties ;)

Looks awesome. You have really a BMW light in your flashlight :D
 
So i adjusted and improved the focus of the flashlight beam and added LED's for longer battery life when i don't need the HID. 2 type of Leds where added one is a forward facing 10W LED floodlight that can fold back when not in use. The other is 2 5050 SMD LED Strips that put out a lantern style like light for lighting a room during power outages. The only thing i have left to add is a mini 12v led voltage display but its being sent il post more Pic once i get it installed :beer:

If you hadn't of told me the 10W flip up LED was a mod, I wouldn't have known. Nice bit of workmanship there.

Thank you :thanks: I used a strap hinge and Magnets to hold it upright when in use.

Ok so I was asked how I improved the focus of the flashlight beam and where I got the 10W Led on the top so I am going to post my response here so everyone can see ;) .

So the 10W LED can be found on Amazon you can find it by Searching ( 12V 10w led flood light ) make sure its 12V DC not 120V AC they do look the same. Also the best color Temp is 5800~6500K (COOL White).

The way I improved the focus of the flashlight beam was by using three ( 1/2 x 1-1/2 / M12.7 x 38.1 ) Fender Washers put in the socket but by doing that the clip for the bulb no longer fits :thinking: so I Used a 1 1/16 in. to 2 in. Clamp along with 2 small side angle L brackets with a zip tie to hold it in. As you can see in one of the pic's the system I built holds the bulb in very well :beer:.

I took a Few other Pic's to show the Wiring job but I still have a mini 12v led voltage display I going to add when it comes.

Randy amazing mod, congratulations! I just ordered a Thor cyclops X in hopes to just do a basic 55W HID mod. The site you referred to is interesting since it offers a single ballast + hid.

I have no clue how to do the mod but I am researching it and it seems that I need to crimp the power to the ballast, then secure it inside somehow. What tools did you use for the mod? Did you use a crimper? I just want to get the tools I need to do the mod. Also if you have any tips for me I would really appreciate it!

;) Thank you and if your just doing a basic bulb only mod then its all plug and play :D umm my Thor was using a H4 type build so as long as you order the right fit DDM kit then there is no wire cutting or modding needed :cool: and about the only thing you will need is some zip ties to hold things in. Let me know how it goes and if i can help with anything else :beer:
 
Nice mod man. By the way I love those ddm tuning hid kits, I've got a couple sets in my cars and they are top notch, I also love there mini ballasts you can fit them just about anywhere.

:thanks: And True that DDM is good. I use nothing but DDM on my car also and they have yet to fail me :D Plus DDM has a store about 5min away from me so i can get replacements fast with the lifetime warranty ;)
 
I have a 2008 silverado with DDM 6000k 35w in my highs, lows and fogs - call it 6HI :)
