Hey guys I have seen jayrobs awesome builds with the phlatlights so i decided to try to make one too. I went with the C8 and I think it turned out nicely, it's nothing special but I am happy with it.

Since the phlatlight is case positive I had to think about how to wire it up. It is running directly off of one 18650 (Panasonic NCR18650PD which has 10A capabilities). I decided to just insert the battery upside down. The red wire you see is actually the negative wire since the battery is inserted backwards. The positive wire it soldered to the back of the LED. Then I used arctic thermal compound to hold the LED in place and allow heat transfer to the pill.

I had to grind down the reflector some and widen the opening to fit the phlatlight. Since i shortened the reflector the lens was now loose so I had to use two lenses as my fix for right now.

I will add more pictures tonight when it gets dark ;)

Thanks to all you guys out there who posted their builds for me to learn from!

why not just cut a old gift card in a ring to hold the lens tight and not lose 2 lenses worth of power :D

Good idea never would of thought of that +1

I just did that temporarily until I had time to figure out but you have definitely have just helped

yeah, im really glad i held on to my old school IDs, they come in handy :D

Looking at my c8 it might be possible to place orings on both sides of the lens. Might need something to hold it down on the reflector though.

going to have to try this!! got one of those led's.

If you use one of your NCR18650PD's use heavier gauge wire and don't use a spring. That thing completely flattened my spring by running so much current through it lol. Putting the batter upside down what the easiest thing for me since it is case positive. I keep it's run time pretty short since this thing can get hot quick. It is pretty cool though I have a pressure switch for it and I want to sell it to a hunter who can mount it on their gun, since they sometimes use red and green lights while hunting. With the pressure switch it will keep the run time to a minimum too ;)
