There are many sites around which sell LED and Xenon torches. I want to know what is the best deal for the cash.

Thank you :)

For the cash? If you don't need the best quality, get a 2x 18650, SST-50 light from DX. This one runs at 5A: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.36031

This one runs at 4A, so it would be a little bit dimmer but last longer. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32591

And if you want the best quality possible, look at Eagletac and Jetbeam. You won't get the same brightness for the same price, but the quality would be much better.

Then get AW 18650 cells and any charger you want.

You could get a single 18650 host and an XP-G drop in (P60 size is what my surefire takes) and just replace it, but make sure it can take at least 4.2V in. I'm no expert, but I think that would work.

That's a good idea, but it would be better to get a regulated drop-in than a directly driven one, as the regulated will have a flat runtime and more consistent brightness. And your voltage would depend on the drop-in.

If you want a good thrower, I was told the Ultrafire 501B, an R5 dropin, a smooth reflector and an aspheric lens makes for an incredibly cheap but very good thrower.

Also, check out CPF (candlepowerforums.com). Those guys are much more experienced then most of us. Just keep in mind, most of them are extremely biased with the more expensive lights, and will delete almost any post about DX. But they can help you with what kind of light to get.

That's a good choice!

Things, you should try a 2x 18650 light. The P7 is good, but directly driven it gets dim fast and doesn't keep up a good runtime.

What's the best laser for $50?

Yeah, it depends on what your wants & needs are. It seems to me there is an even bigger variation of flashlights than lasers and thinking about what you will use it for and what qualities you want is necessary to decide what is best for you. (Brightness, throw (projection), runtime, build quality, color, light quality, weight, size and many more subtle details come into play.) CPF is a good suggestion. (Just remember they have their own rules & culture. Including posting spam links is verboten and DX links, especially, are closely monitored (because of prior abuse.))

Best laser for under $50? Depends on what you want to do. You can get both red, green, and bluray (violet) for under $50. The red will burn the best at that price, the green will look the coolest, and the violet will fluoresce more stuff which also looks cool.

Just look around the multimedia section and pick whatever color looks best to you.

I hope you're happy with your selection.

If not, and for all others, especially those using the search function in the future, CPF is a great resource for flashlight info. (But like anywhere you need to adapt to the local culture and take the info that is relevant to your needs. Over there you will have the fanatics that give the flashlight equivalent advice to, Q: "What's the most reliable pointer for meetings at work?", with A: "You gotta' get this giga-watt IR laser kit that will burn wood at 50 meters. It's the best deal out there at only a few thousand dollars." Yeah, admit it. People here sometimes get a little carried away too. :)

If you want lumens, run five (that's right, five) sst-90s in series, someone on cpf did it, had well over 9,000 lumens (real lumens, not WickedLasers IR lumens), as each sst-90 is good for around 2500 lumens at max current. While cool, it did cost him around $500, so it's up to you.
