I've got a mad desire for a flashlight thats just pointlessly overpowered. I've google'd and ebay'd but I haven't found anything other than this:

NEW 85W HID SOS Torch Flashlights 8500 Lumen 7800mAh LI ION Battery | eBay

Its a bit more expensive then what I was aiming for. Anyone know of a cheaper high powered flashlight? I'm not particular about it being HID or LED, but something at least 2000 lumens, though if theres something in the 4000+ lumen range for a decent price that would be awesome.

(Not asking for people to google for me, just wondering if you guys know any off the top of your heads)

Thanks!

You'll need some good batteries first and foremost.

Folks seem to like the SkyRay King and its various clones, and they're fairly economical. Usually have 3 or 4 XM-L LEDs. Some clones are crap, though, so do some research if you go this route.

If it is lux you are after, consider a large reflectored light with a single LED. It will be dimmer, but will put a spot further downrange.

If you want something better than stock, Vin sells modified for a bit more coin, with many improvements to the stock version. Often it includes a higher lux beam, or a ridiculously high number of lumens. Where stock lights will run the LEDs at some random current, usually way below what a hobbyist would run them at, Vin improves heatsinking and pushes more power to the LEDs.
Vin has himself his own subforum over at candlepower forums, in the manufacturers corner, I think.

If you think $130 is a little over budget then you wont find much of anything from Vinh. The cheapest light I bought from Vinh was $150 (K40vn), Mvn ($200), K50vn ($210?)

If you are after just pure wall of light then search the MGT2 route. I am not a fan of the SRK at all. Bought one and it has the WORST heatsinking ever. It is super bright but after 30 seconds on high it gets really warm, 1 min on and you cant hold it.

I suggest the Shadow SL3 if you are after a 3x XM-L2 running off 1x 26650 or 1x 18650.

Also depends on if you want a larger light or something small that packs a punch! If you want a 4x 18650 that packs a punch in the SRK size, look at the Nitecore TM11 (thats what the SRK is a clone of). You can find that for around $100-130 if you look well. Packs out about 4000-5000 lumen iirc
