I have to agree with Rick on this one. As defined by thefreedictionary.com :
hand-held also hand·held (hndhld)
adj.
Compact enough to be used or operated while being held in the hand or hands: a hand-held video camera.

I would say a backpack would no longer be handheld as you are not holding a self contained unit in your hands. And an M16 / M4 / AR15 can be fired by one hand :)

BTW Rick, thanks... now I've got to work on a 20W version... back to the drawing board :p

When a visible continuous wave laser hand-held throws off molten steel sparks, that's Win!
Good job Rick!

For me, the only thing that could beat it would be the same at TEM00.

I agree with CDBEAM's definition. You might need to mount those batts properly, though.

The spring throwing sparks looks very cool! What's the minimum power to do that?

I do not know. I saw a 11w do it. I will try it on my 6W

I sold it! but I will get video of light beam shoot before I ship it out, have more people asking for one. I will be getting in more parts soon so I can make the 40w + soon. I think I can get up to 60W as soon as I get the pars made up.

Sounds cool, let me know when you try it!
When you finish the 40W try to shine it at the sky during daylight - it'll probably be visible.
