Hi,

About a week or two ago I joined this wonderful LaserPointerForum and was fascinated by lasers and everything about them (efficiency, hosts, drivers, diodes, gas lasers, ect). Overwhelmed, I hurried to gather as much information as I could so that I too, could build my own custom lasers.

Yes, I`m a newb at the moment and I am not sure if the parts I have chosen will come together and work well.
Here is what I came up with:

Diode: M-140 (DTR`s module with 3 AiXiZ lens)
Driver: FMT V2 buck/boost driver 1.7A
Batteries: two 300mAh Li-Po
Host: Fake Zippo lighter ($5)(Im not going to be`using it for more than 10 seconds at a time)
-Unless you guys reccomend that i get a host (maybe a S4)
Charger: Hobby Zone # 484712V DC 2-Cell Li-Po Charger 300mAh : Mini-CubHobby Zone 484712V DC 2 Cell Li Po Charger 300mAh Mini Cub | eBay
Please tell me if that my list of items would make a good laser.

QUESTIONS
1. Are there goggles which have a filter and after the filter there is a reflective coat

2. Which goggles are the best?

3. Why does everyone have a solid heatsink without any fins or holes, wouldn`t a heat sink with small holes in it+ a small fan work better?

4.Whats the min and max Amps a M-140 can take and the min and max voltage it can take?

Thank-you for your time :)

,Richard

I would suggest a proper host for your first build. driving an m-140 @ 1.7A in nothing more than an aixiz module is not a good idea.

If your going to buy a diode from DTR why not buy one with a driver already set and installed?

Ty for the reply :)
Are you suggesting that i use a G-2 module or do you mean I should be using a heatsink if I`m running a M-140 diode at 1.7A?

+1 to first reply :)

The diodes DTR sells are in copper aixiz modules which need to be installed in a heatsink as well for the power you want to run.

An aixiz module is what holds the diode and lens and allows heat transfer to a heatsink.

The 3 element glass lens is good to start with and will give better beam but if you want more power while sacrificing beam specs a G-2 lens will give around a 30% increase in output.
