Like the title says.

What would I need to make a GOOD QUALITY 455nm laser..

Like the Wickedlasers one (it looks like good quality from the pics)

What would I need for:

-Diode (50$ group buy ?)
-Heatsink (diode fits here directly?)
-Module (needed??)
-Driver (can't be direct drive lol)
-Host (something that looks nice)
-Optics
Etc

If the cost is similar or close to the wicked, then I will probably just go for the WL spyder.

Moadul 2-4$ aixiz or shure
Driver 0.32cents to 30$ (I suggest a boost drive for 23$)
Optics? 10$ aixiz glass lense 405nm coated.

Hmm, I should go away for another month or two lol

Maybe when I return, there will be lightsabers .

Ahh, then there is shipping for the parts...So 150$ maybe...

I am 1000000% sure I'm getting one...

If someone is selling them at a lower or same cost with a good output/quality, I'll buy one.

Or else, guess I should wait for the results for the Spyder3

I was talking to WL sales agent through their website chat.

He said to expect 750mw o 900mw
 
spend like 10 bucks on deal extreme lol. i got a sku 3405..... tho i feel the heatsink was a ripoff for its price
 
Or get a heatsink for <$2 made out of washers and super glue, but that's just if you're really cheap... Works fine for me though!

Perhaps something like this: Power LED's - simplest light with constant-current circuit

It's very cheap if you buy the parts in bulk or build them from stuff you already have (and you can find most of the parts from old electronics like CRT monitors etc. too). I used this driver on all 3 of my builds so far, it works pretty well but varies some mA (maybe 10mA per 5V?) across varying voltages, so use a test load first.

Yes that one needs a bit cleaning up... I haven't attempted to clean it since I put it together.
 
Its probably more cost efficient to buy a spyder...
if you start from scratch, goggles, batterie,charger..
 
On the Aixiz website, their glass 405nm lens is listed at $15 + shipping. However, the $10 that rangedunits quoted is not the first time I've seen somebody state that price. Is there another source and/or coupon code that I'm unaware of?

Never thought of using washers....

driver: $30
heatsink: $35
housing: I use a P60 host
misc. : $15 (shipping costs, random stuff)
$145. Just have to figure out what driver is best to use. Seems like I do my homework and figure it out, then the next day I've forgotten what I deemed best. If anybody has any suggestions, the light will be run of a single Li-Ion capable of at least 5A. I don't think I should need 18W for a laser+driver, but if linear is all I can find, it'll still work.
