Weighing my options for a repair/rebuild

My handheld laser bit the dust a little while back, and I'm weighing my options as far as just swapping out the diode or perhaps upgrading it.

It was a 445nm, 1.1W in a coleman host, G2 lens. I've gotten quite a lot of hours use on it since I've had it. Appears the diode has bit the dust finally.

It had been using an A140 diode, I believe (driven 1.25A). Someone told me I could put an M140 in there and it should work fine, if not more efficiently, while maintaining similar output

I'm not 100% in love with the coleman host. It's decent enough, but I've seen some pretty sweet hosts on here that look way cooler, and I'm thinking they might offer better cooling if I was trying to go for higher output rather than keep output the same. If I got the badder host with good cooling, wondering what some of my different options would cost to get up & running again. I really don't need 3W (that's terrifyingly awesome), 1.5-2W would be pretty awesome I think. I'd need to buy something to pull the diode & all that also. [edit]: Friend would let me use his LPM to test afterwords.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
