Re: My new "impatient" 445nm build

My first tip would be to be patient and not build a rig with your Helping Hands to hold your module while testing. Also, always solder ALL of your connections!

What I don't understand yet is why the diode would not come on if not making good contact with the HH while at the same time, the case pin on the diode was soldered to the negative lead. I would think that that would have provided the needed connection. I'm still puzzled about that.:wtf:

What I WILL be doing now is waiting for my host to arrive, then solder all of my connections, make sure my batteries are fully charged, and everything is heat sunk before I make the connection to see if we have light.

As I do not have an LPM, there is no need for me to dick around with anything until I get it all connected and sunk nicely.

Live and learn...

I just thought I should solder red to red, black to black, then heatshrink wrap the connections... and cut the white.

Re: My new "impatient" 445nm build

The diode I got from DTR was prewired. He wires all three pins. Since I was concerned about the module not being in a grounded host, I should connect the negative and case leads. In my mind, that grounds the module, no?

The case pin will most certainly be clipped once the unit is in the host.

Yeah, so I think we are determined to go ahead and drop a beefier driver @ 1.8A to make this an even more powerful burner. I'll be happy when I can smoke the dog poop in the courtyard. lol!

Ya know Dart, you just might be right about that. But, in my defense, I have to have something to do while I wait for a host from china and two custom heatsinks from flaminpyro...
