Ok well I have played enough with these tec's I think I have a build going to come through. I have no idea if this will all work out or not and this is just a project I am working on. If anyone wants to input I would appreciate it.

So I baought a set of 5 Marlow industry tec coolers there 12mmx8mm. Yes I got a datasheet somewhere... here is what I have done. I started by grinding the Pill down to a flat surface(wish I had a lathe) thanks Dremmel..

Then I set the tec's in place I know it's quite a way's from the diode but I want to put in a seperate driver and switch for the tec and modify the battery carrage so 1 battery is isolated and the other 2 work in serial for the diode. I dont think the round blitz driver will work for this because I dont have the room for the second driver. anyway's... I set the heatsink on the pill with the tec's and ground down the remainder of the pill untill I got a tight fit.

I also wanted to tec cool the driver side so I came up with this another tec on the inside of the pill cooling a copper anthot copper disk that I could then mount the drivers to.

In the end the heatsink has lots of space to the host 1mm all arround so it was designed to sinc to the pill anyway's I have turned the pill into a hotside heatsink and cool everything else.. In these big boy's the way they sit the Pill is the only part that connects to the host directly so it should pump the heat out to the host (I HOPE!!!!)

Anyway's this is where I am tonight... LOL

Oh I forgot to mention that this 9mm is hitting 3.2W at 2.4A (that is a first) I just got my shipment from DTR of 5x 9mm V4 diode modules.. Damn there sweet! I gently sanded with the dremmel the inside of the heatsink a bit so it would just slip in. It was too tight to begin with (took me 5 mins).. I personally would rather have to shave a little than have a sloppy fit. +5 Jordan Great modules!...

Many problems here... For one that's a big chunk of aluminum for those 2 little peltiers and another problem is how are you going to powa the peltiers? When I seen your peltiers at first I thought you were going to use them on a sAik build with the big boy you'll need more than the pill to dump that heat if it will even get that hot with that massive sink to begin with.

I have some ideas, but its late and I'm using my phone.... I'll catch ya in the a.m.

Yeah I was up till 3:30 last night and had to work at 7am.. I'm tired too.. and if you think this would be better for a saik I can easily and want to remove my 2.9W and move it to a big boy. I have severe battery issues with the saik.. 3x14500's in series I wanted to put in 2 drivers 1 for the peltiers on 1 isolated battery with switch and the other I am thinking a lasereer micro The round divers wont work here.

Also they are small and just cool I wasnt wanting to freeze anything.. I have been running the tec's on a LaserLuke driver I built foulmyst fixed that has a nice 5 turn pot on it so I have been playing with the right current to drive them so they produce the leist ammount of heat but still provide some cooling.. I am not going to fire up the tec's to max because they become inefficient quickly... I also dont want condensation to form. If I can get some readings for laserer on my 9mm diodes temp vs reading I think it would help. Next week I am going to dedicate to tec cooling computer controled Sick Box!!!

I was actually going to use them on a saik I still have a plan for the 5. I need to buy some more.. I still think this has hope.

How much wattage are the TEC rated at ~12V ( triple 18650 batteries).
And compare it to the heat output of diode. That is total energy pumped into the diode minus the light output.

Always important to keep it simple. With triple TEC the pill might overheated very quickly.

Well for example, I just don't see enough cavity space in the pill for 2 drivers as they would be buck right? you did the battery mode I hope. If not then what you could do is use the boost driver set it up for the 9mm and direct drive the peltiers just solder them on the drivers VIN pads. That is one option. You could cut the bottom of the large sink in half and mount the peltiers in there side by side and glue them top to bottom run the wires down the hole in the center.

There is some hope if you want to do this it's just the route I see in the pics is not going to work if thermal transfer is your goal.

The sAik build you could looking from the bottom half the heatsink and kinda make a drive/ peltier sandwich. Even then the driver would prolly be thicker than those peltiers.

I used a cut precise groove to mount my drivers above the peltiers in my fire farter build, it actually
cools the 9mm and 2 drivers, after 5min. run time it's just at room temp or slightly above. Once you turn it off though it gets really hot so your off time if like 10min. The challange there which I corrected was the fan mount I could not for the life of me get the wires behind the fan to not hit the fan, there was simply NO room, well it came to me in my sleep I put springs behind the fan on the screws to push the fan out.

The next step is to find a three way switch that I could replace the stock switch with. That will never happen prolly though.

In closing with TEC builds, I would build the unit with the peltiers capability in mind first. This does 2 things. It gives you the physical size of the unit and it's heat transfer capabilities, remember it's better to hit the mark under driving these units IMHO.

Thanks for the advice. If I can remember corectly these little guy's were 2V I have to search for the datasheet I have somewhere. I had them hooked up to the laserluke buckboost and they worked great. I was seeing how little current it would take to get them cold. My whole point was to drive them with the least amount of current to do the job wich would also minimise the amount of heat produced. Direct driveing them would just cause them to super heat. I have tried them on a 3.7V and they just get to hot so that was when I started playing with them on the adjustable driver. The pill actually has enough room for 3x benboosts in it so 2 rectangular drivers shouldnt be a problem. I do like the idea of cutting the sink in half I was a bit concerned about the pill being to small for the heat generated. When I get home I am going to fire them up on the driver and see how cold/hot it gets and go from there.

They will get hot you would need to get them to dump the heat into something.... Try your best to set up a as real condition as you can give them a stress test within there set voltage, amps.
