Default Skipping the aixiz module entirely?

What if there was a heatsink with a specific internal diameter where you could press the diode straight into? It would be a press fit, just like the aixiz module, but the heatsink itself would be threaded for a specific glass lens. Could this be done? And in the interest of heatsinking wouldn't it create better heat transfer if the diode was pressed straight into the heatsink?

These are available through jayrob and ehgemus makes custom hosts with "direct-press' heat sinks.

In the pic, see the second piece from the left. The diode gets pressed into that then screwed onto the host :-)

Here is a link for jayrobs kit with the direct-press option heatsink. FS: 18650 Build Kit! Easy Assembly! 445nm, Blu-ray, or Red...

The Kryton offers press-fit direct to host, was the first laser host to do so. There's a group buy going now for them, about $50 each I believe. Jayrob offers a pressfit option for his kits also, not sure if it's for all or not.

The only issue with direct fit is you can't easily swap out diodes. What yall really need to do is design a little copper slug you press the diode in to that threads in to the same threads as the lenses. Then you just thread the heatsink all the way through with the same threads. Throw a super thin smear of thermal grease on the threads, thread the diode in to one end, the lens in to the other. Of course with a lip on the diode holder to keep it from going in to far. Heck, could just drill out a brass bolt of the proper threading and length

I use a piece of antenna from an old radio that doesn't work anymore. It pushes the diode out perfectly without any damage to the module or diode.
