Howdy!
Its been over a year since I last posted (although it doesn't show it?!). (I had been wheelchair bound for over 8 months and things were difficult, but I've had a spinal operation and now I'm almost back to full rude health)
I have made a driver today for a 445nm diode I received from an e-bay seller (£31.25) and it is very simple. However it does not give the full output for the diode (it is possibly running at 150 mW). Where do I obtain a decent current controller for it?
I currently use a L78S05 three pin regulator using two small (0.33 uF and 0.1 uF) caps from pin 1 and 3 to ground, and a 1 Ohm resistor from pin 1 to the diode to measure the current. Using a 6V input I am getting 3.8V output at around 48mA. This allows the diode to work but it is hardly 'amazing' as it should be. I have a piece of 25 dia aluminium and a lathe for a couple of hours tomorrow and would like to craft a holder butt I need to get hold of I driver I can connect to two CR1213A batteries. Any help would be appreciated.
