445 is quite a bit more blue than 405, it's very blue at that point.

And I'll take at least one, maybe 2.

The beams look pretty good in the pic I posted earlier.. Maybe we should look in to harvesting the lenses they use for collimation as well.

Uhm, i had to ask quotations for a client that searched for this projector, sent the inquiry wednesday (the A140, being more precise, not the A130), but really not thought about dismantle it ..... anyway, Casio distributor not yet replied me, so i still don't know how much they will cost here (except that in some shops they are proposed for 900 Euro, like 1050$ )

I'm curious to see if, having sent the inquiry as reseller, the price is less crazy than this

Oh, BTW, i've read somewhere that the total consumption of the laser block is something like 40W ..... if i recall correctly, nichia had a 500mW 455nm diode on their catalog, til one year ago (i remember this, cause i had sent them an inquiry for know sampling prices, and they replied me with the prices, that was insane, like 1140$ each ) ..... now this particular diode is disappeared from their catalogs (all the production given exclusively to a manufacturer ?), but it was like 200mA threshold and 6V VF, consuming around 850 / 900 mW for give 500mW of light ..... now, i know we don't have any specifications about these diodes, so mine are pure speculations, but the values are very similars ..... if so, they can really be 500mW CW diodes ..... and, considering how much we take from our diodes ..... :drool: :san:

Possibly, but the way the projector is just using the optics to fill a DLP chip in this, I doubt the beamspecs are anything at all to write home about. Always worth checking though.

And whew, glad I snuck in there at the last instant. Just in time.

Of course. These things are like Doritos, they make more every day, they're not going to run out.

But ti's certainly in most people's best interest to get the first ones in and test them before ordering more. Looks like PL is already working on filling orders for their 3rd or 4th projector for the European market.

Of course this huge price jump had to happen when I have just had problems with customs and am in debt because of extra duties on goods -.-
Oh well.. I guess I will sit back and watch the rest of you play with these, and then hope they are available in higher powers and at even lower prices in a few months when I have money again.

Very true. That's one of the reasons we're holding on more diode requests until after this first batch is tested.

How do we go about collimating these diodes? Would be cool if we could talk to Ehgemus or Flaminpyro or another machinist and see if they could put together a custom heatsink or something to house the different lens's, I'm assuming a straight aixiz module won't be up for the job of focusing correctly?
