Problem with my laser.

Hello. I have strange problem with my new laser. I bought Aurora C6 JAD Kit with 1.8A linear driver and H1600 diode. I connected wires from the diode to the driver's wires , put batteries in the laser and turned it on. The laser shines brightly half a second and then starts to shine like a normal blue LED. 5 seconds after turning on the laser heatsink becomes very hot , it is almost impossible to hold in hands . Who knows what's the problem ? :thanks:

Did you short the driver's output wires to discharge the cap before hooking up the diode?

Yes, i short the driver's output wires before connecting the diode.
You want to say that the diode is probably damaged by static discharge ?
