^^^Eagle PairŪ 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles

Relatively cheap, but very effective. Does not block IR but also works great for 405nm and 532nm.

One of the scariest experiences I had was when I turned on a 1.2W laser to see if i could lpm a reflection off a white surface. I was wearing goggles from LPMing my red laser. Forgot to switch to the goggles for the blue laser. So I saw specular reflection of off a white cardboard surface from about 18 inches or so.

SCARY experience. Obviously closed my eyes, turned off the laser, and no damage, but yeah, the specular reflection of a 445 laser, imo DEMANDS respect.

Default Re: A Plea for EYE Safety!!

Three reasons. First, It's generally not the seller's responsibility to ensure buyers aren't stupid. Second, good certified safety goggles are rarely cheap. No one is going to pay $150 for a 660nm laser because $100 of it is because of the goggles. Lastly, most people generally end up buying more than one laser of the same wavelength. After they already have a pair of goggles, (or two), most aren't going to want to continue paying the added cost of stuff they don't need/want.

These "some people" have no business buying a high powered laser if they aren't willing to educate themselves for their own safety in the first place.

As Laserbee and Quemefox already said.. googles aren't free either, but I have NEVER seen anyone on this forum who asked about goggles, not get pointed to safety goggles.

What about High Intensity Discharge vehicle lamps using xenon arcs and what not...in regards to the blue light danger

I notice alot of trends towards people moving towards violet and deep blue because its "cool".

Could this not be hazardous as well?? Its already bad enough to have head lights shining at you at night ...

Does this mean these glasses are still not the best to use because they do NOT protect against anything besides 400-600nm? Sure they can block the color...But the invisible stuff is what I'd care about blocking...
Help, I'm getting into lasers approatching 5watts or more in the 808, and 900 nm regions, any recommendatiins on glasses and shrouds for work station. I intend on hand inscribing hard matrials

also just like a gun, if it doesent have a safety on it (as some dont, most notably a Glock) you are to take the batteries out of it when not in use and transportation to avoid problems - I guess like an actual gun without a safety if you are holding it and you know what you are doing all should be OK - so dont give it to someone who doesent understand it[/QUOTE]

Sorry I had to correct you.I am a gun fanatic and have owned hundreds of guns.Glocks have a trigger safety,a firing pin block, and a drop safety so bad example.Sorry to split hairs I know this is a laser forum but had to chime in on the false info.

Even though I have found out many used these and they are fine. For my 1.3W laser i prefer to sleep better at night knowing my goggles are certified. Went ahead and bought a pair of these ARG - Blu Ray, Argon, Blue, KTP [NR-ARG-EN207] - $80.50 A small price to pay to keep my vision.
