Good point, a build from here would be by far the best option.

I was only thinking of the lasers linked to.

what is the standard diameter of the dot?
if i focus it in a inch will the the beam be stronger?
i hope you get what im trying to say..

The laser will be 1W at 1 inch or 1cm. It doesn't increase in power at all. What focusing does is increase the power density at the focal point. The tighter the beam is focused the higher the power density.

Edit: For example. The sun will not set you on fire instantaneously but when you take a magnifying glass and focus the sunlight down. The smaller you get the dot. The higher the power density.

Nearly all of these high power blue lasers have a rectangular "dot" and pretty bad divergence. If you want to burn stuff you will have to be within a few feet and you ave to focus the dot down small for maximum burning :) the closer you are the smaller the dot will go and you can get less than a 500 micron dot with a good axiz lens
