Yea the big issue is finding a way to sink the driver in the module as you also need the full copper back half in there as well. It would be a shorter duty cycle than a 2W but it would not be that big an issue.

Looking forward to that Rick.
Looks like my 1.5W 520nm would still be close to 2x brighter beam compared to a 7W 445nm and the dot is still 3.5x brighter. Wonder if there will be the next big jump in green before blue as it seemed to take quite some time for the green to do the nasty.
Is there a calculator that can compare a laser brightness to LED beam width being equal? I've maxed out a PT-121 green messing around and so my mind can't help but think about these things. It's not like you can't run a diode without a lens. Maybe it's too much apples and oranges to figure out properly.

I might get one of these further down the track once I have completed my 510 adapter collection. The 450-455 wavelength doesn't really excite me, but 462+ (even if its lower power) does. I've become a bit of a wavelength/exotic/gas collector as per my sig. I have another ion coming my my way in a few weeks so I'll be holding off buying any more diodes until then. :)

But rest assured DTR I'll be getting one of these just for sheer burning fun. Personally I thought about it, and something this powerful should be in something that can "roll off the table" and considering its heatsinking requirements, I'll probably buy a diode and build a lab module. :beer:

I wonder if my old H80i water cooler can get the heat away quick enough LOL! :)

If you know the loss of a three element lens and use it with this diode you can estimate the raw power output, that would be of interest to me.

I'm scared for our hobby, but really I don't think it can be stopped.
But imagine, we're going to have insanely powerful red and green laser diodes soon. I'm excited to see how laser displays evolve in the future

Little new info. Got some images of the raw output compared to a NDB7A75. The NUBM44 is a thinner bar more concentrated and is definitely much bluer than the NDB7A75. I am waiting on a wavelength check but my guess is it is a 462nm diode.

462 nm...Holy Crap...most excellent news !!!!! Much increased luminosity per/W out the front door VS the 445 nm line !!!!
Do not have my wavelength luminosity chart available right now...but this msy surpass ythe luminosity of the 1.5W 520 nm LD.

That explains why its so insanely bright. I didn't notice the color until I used my other 445s. I'd estimate in the upper 450's possibly.

Also, Anyone want mine? I decided I want to use my cypreus II for something else and modify another host for this diode, which will take a while, so I don't need it right now. I'd rather have the extra cash now, and pay extra later, so PM me if ineterested. I only put about 15 min on it, and I just have to take it out of the heatsink. Looking for $125 shipped 2-day priority mail. It will come exactly as it did from DTR, in a full copper module with leads.

wow, i cant wait till we get some good measurements on its max power and wavelength! a 7W+ 462 would be awesome, if its a 462 i would have to build something with it.

That's not a solid percentage. A small part of the beam tends to get clipped on wide emitters like this. It depends on the beam characteristics.

Yep here is one I built with a three element lens in the XML host kits Budget beams are offering. Over 5W for a full minute.
