Will you be getting a NUBM06

Ok I am going to do some testing then put a G2 and 6x pair on a NUBM06, they seem to have slightly better divergence and a tad more power than the mighty NUBM44, but more testing to come.

Feel free to post any 06 related pics or video you have and I will update this as I move along with it.

The Gball seems to be a very efficient lens, but after cutting the can on one down and trying to get a perfect focus it seems they are purpose built for their factory use, so......I know old cowboy was in love with that Gball just a short while back, but now I say rip that sucker out.

Here's a G7 from SANWU in his 5mm long wide open body, its a long FL single element that focus down about like a 3 element just a tad longer on the focused line length but it lets more power through not quite on par with the G2 but more than a 3 element and a better spot size than the G2 at any real distance.

p.s. These big popsicle sticks are not puny, they are thicker than a penny.

Excellent review! +Rep.
That Sanwu G7 looks rather short. Is it too short to use easily?

You can adjust it while it's on, but you learn to just pinch the edge, or turn it off and on making small adjustments, but it's a long focal length so it's a lot easier to dial in than a short FL like a G2.

When I use my 3ele lens with with nubm44, I get a "bowtie" splash that's parallel with the line of diode output. Seems as tho maybe the lens is not columating all of the output (may not be wide enough?) Contributing to the lower effiency.

This 06 is stout, my corrected 44 lights stuff at 20 feet, but this is just a G7 lens uncorrected, this diode has potential and I think will make a line only 75% of the 44 with 1 more watt, that should be noticeable especially at distance.

4 feet

up close I was a little to close, the tight spot was to the left and did you hear it sizzle, if lit up about anywhere.
I remember when 7 - 8 watts meant combining 3 diodes, this is sweet.

Your lens may be loose, check the retainer ring on the back, or try a new lens, they do get burned on junk over time.

If you have ever taken it apart and don't get the lenses set right that can happen.

Oh my goodness. So much burn footage! Thanks redcowboy.
I will need to be in the market for new hosts pretty soon

It's also less divergent than the 44 and a little stronger at 4.5amps.

The NUBM06 through a brand new DTR G2 makes a 1.5 inch line at 15 feet where the 44 makes a 2.0 inch line and the 06 looks a little thicker, it was not the Gball at all, they have maybe seamlessly stacked 2 emitter, p/n junctions?

This through the 6x will work very well, 75% the 44's line length and a touch more power = win.

I stay out of the sky unless star pointing late at night when there is zero air traffic and a clear night.

People also should listen carefully for air traffic and stay away from the tree line as a plane could quickly appear over a tree line, so big open starry skies only, that and I really don't want to draw attention and alarm anyone, I enjoy wood art in the daylight when it won't bother anyone, it is enjoyable and more power makes it really nice.

If you are getting a Bowtie look that can happen if the lens is on the wrong way. Flip it around and try again.
Burn baby burn!

Not backwards, altho I did try flipping just to be sure. Had a diode and 3ele lense come in today. New lense, same thing. I have a "bar" for a focused spot, outside of that i have a triangular wash on each side. Looks like a bowtie. The wash is very dim but noticable. Tried them both with my new m140 diode, same thing.

Some artifacts do show, we just notice them less in different lighting, can you post a pic?

On phone right now, will edit w/pics when able
Edit. The splash is in line with the bar shaped output of the diode, even when focusing, almost like each end is outside of the columating area
