I waited for 3 hrs in case he did not get chosen.

meanwhile...

A cement truck overturned on an overpass and traffic was=fubared for 6 hours


I spent $18 in gas/$3. in tolls just to pick up some blanks. My fault not thiers...

All in all it was not the greatest day. But I have had worse.

they have not actually gotten the new glass lenses just yet...maybe today-MAYBE customs prob- maybe by friday--trust me they are on top of it....

nobodies fault- so everybody CHILL

On a good note....

I felt like I had died and gone to laser hobbiest heaven....
Was surouded by thousands of laser stuff at thier place--ALL around me shelves full of bins full of everything aixiz sells and moar!!!
Kept saying to myself-- --'I have that and that' and "I need those and those too'


they showed me a inch thick stack of unsent orders just for the new glass.


I also realized what a problem we create by making so many inquiries about unsent orders--and especially the confusion made by those who have different-LPF/other laser forums user names---another PP name--and other email names--and real names---thier phones were all ringing non-stop
so not all got answered.

All that really gave me a new prespective on the biz.

AND THIS IS IMPORTANT!!...IF you do NOT have your addy in your PP you may want to re-think that-
I watched as they dwnloaded two+ pages of PP payments and many did not show'PRINT SHIPPING LABEL'
SO ..EVEN if you include it in the 'note to seller' that only S L O W S down the whole process and makes the possibility of error increase.
Those who have thier CONFIRMED address in thier PP, get printed quick and first--if they have to go 'find' it--copy and paste it-- for dozens of orders--- I think you can see where I am going with this.

the crew at AixiZ are great people and we make thier job harder by not waiting with a little paitence..
....continous emails and phones calls only slows the whole thing down..especially if we make them guess who we are...what 'stuff' we are asking about and all the name confusion...


.if you get an email from AixiZ respond only in that(reply) email DO NOT MAKE A NEW ONE--be specific--AND be nice- aixiz is doing thier best--been there ---saw that!!!!


AixiZ has many phone #s and at least four email addys plus email via ebay--sending same or different messages to more than one(LIKE I DID)does not speed up anything --in fact it slows down the whole process-


the squeakiest wheel sometimes does NOT get greased first.. We are all equally important customers--they have 5 or more people working there--the one handling your order MAY not know you.. so plz do not take that or this tirade personal..not meant that way.

All this may also apply to paying for anything from anybody via PP-check-E-check-CC etc-including me..
I cannot imagine the emails coming in to WL and Steve..And some of your are amazed why YOU had to wait a few days or more for a reply---REALLY?

hey hak-so is there any word on why this happened? something about customs? It seems strange that customs cares about lenses

I dunno--maybe the package from China had other lasers in it--they did not give me any more details and were very busy-I doubt it is a customs thing- they were purely speculating--

-they promised to call me so I can drive up there-AGAIN.

I do know this--I am doing the best I can to get these out asap--and am not -at this point, making anything on them in fact I wiil lose $ and my drive time too.--They were supposed to be shipped with the diodes- PMs will go out same day as the lenses ship--

Jeez, that's a bummer len. I think it would be right for aixiz to take the fall on this one, they should have thought ahead better than this.

Actually I am impressed that they had a newly tuned lens for 445nm that quickly. It would have been easy to just let us have the old 405 glass and 15-20% less power.

Add all that to the fact that 1/2 of Chuck's staff(his family) went on a 3 week European vacation the day I ordered.(How dare they?? )So where is the 'bummer'?=increase in output but not in price(so far)

Of course they couldn't have predicted this, but they should have made sure they were stocked up before they made such a huge transition IMO. Apple doesn't stop selling the old iphones while it's waiting for the new ones to be finished.

I think the only reason they changed to a different AR coating was because they saw a massive increase in orders, and correlated that with the new 445nm diodes. It's our fault that they're out of stock

Definitely not the fault of AixiZ...

They are doing their best. It was a huge explosion of orders that they did not (nor could not) anticipate...

It is commendable that since they were ordering more lenses, they decided on their own to get them specifically coated for 400-460nm...

One thing... We are hoping for an increase in output. And I'm sure there will be some (hopefully), but I'm guessing it will not be 15%...

I guessing this because the AixiZ 405 lenses were already coated for 405, which is close to 445. And unless they are changing to a single element Aspheric lens, like my 405-G-1, it most likely will not be 15% better than the AixiZ 405 lens assembly. Because the 405-G-1 is only 15% better than AixiZ 405. And it is a short focus Aspheric. (single optic)

How could their current 3 lens configuration that clips the 'wings' yield the same output as the 405-G-1? That won't happen unless the design is different. (IMO)

But that doesn't mean it won't be better than before...

The first thing I will do, is test compare the output and beam profile with the 5 lenses that I already tested for the 445 diode, and post the information in my lens comparison thread...

I agree w/ Jay--these have not been independantly tested yet as noted in all my posts. Worst case they will as good as the apparently (more or less) discontinued 'old' 405nm glass, at best they will be better. I was at AixiZ Houston Tuesday and they will be sending them out ONLY after they get them. Same as the ones I am waiting on from AixiZ. If you want to help to speed things up, read post #18 in the this thread .
I talked to Dr Chuck a few hours ago and he did not think the new lenses were coming in today. He will call me asap and I will post info asap--I will ship out those that have been paid for asap. As will Jay.

So relax!! we are all waiting and you know Jay(et al) will do testing and let us know the results ASAP.

OK, the lenses are in and we are testing. Many got out today, shipping insane. Larger bulk orders will be going out Monday AM.

Patience?? hakzaw1 Promised a rack of BBQ ribs to anybody who's "henway" was late. Not sure what he meant by that. I for one appreciate him doing all this for us. Let's face it. He's not gonna get rich off this order. But hey, I'm ready to try the new lens. So either way I'll have a smile when my pkg arrives BBQ or not.~j

BTW, thanks Chuck for all your hard work on these. IMO you went above and beyond to get us the new AR coating better suited for the 445nm wavelength. I got my tracking# today!!
