New M140 Build (Picture Heavy)

Hi everyone
This is the first build that I have ever documented and I have done so for this forum.
I found a host on Ebay about a year ago that looked pretty interesting. I had forgot all about it until a month ago. I can't seem to find the host again anywhere.



As you can see both are different. I put one of the hosts in a solution of sodium hydroxide and hot water to remove the anodising. I then used some Brasso and an old t-shirt to polish it up.



I removed the components from the original driver, soldered a couple of wires and used that as the battery contact.



I then soldered the wires to a mohgasm driver I had lying about (set to 1.8A).



I then glued the driver to the pill and used some thermal cement to bind a copper heat sink to the driver.



Then I connected the diode to the driver.



I got the heat sink custom made from a member on here called "Eudaimonium".




Everything put together.




Here's a beam shot.

I have a LaserBee LPM, I am charging batteries as I type this. I will post the power output soon.

Thanks pschlosser, I just cut down one of the little copper heat sinks from cajunlasers.

Damn, that looks like one nice, clean, professional build. One with copper module is surely gonna last a long time, with driver heatsinked and all!

I love your take on the heatsink design, too. Having big mass protrude out makes it very easy to reach focus ring.

It's his heatsink design, I just machined it.

I was just thinking about getting this host because it was unique and I hadn't seen it done. Good looking build, grats on your success.

Not that I seen at the time with the goggles on, I do have a burn on the floor though lol

I was looking at the picture like, my laser would be smoking that thing
