That is a great result. At 3A(which is still within the diode's rated current), It would be about 5w. Dont worry about pushing the diodes too hard yet while they are still expensive. just safe operating current. I think the 3.2a you came up with is a good rating(for now)

Some good new!!!!!! Did some more testing on the new 3.5W445nm diode and got 6.39W driver got hot. I do not know if it would have gone higher see video let me know what you think ! 6.39W 445nm from new 9mm diode - YouTube
On the last test batteries were weak.
I have a new Power Supply coming in. this weekend will do more testing and post it

Sorry crazyspaz, but my inner grammar Nazi makes me say this. You said technology ceases to amaze you, which means technology has stopped to amaze you and doesn't amaze you anymore...

Anyways, back on topic. That is just... WOW! Now it's possible for a dual diode build to put out 10W+

Can't wait for the price on these to drop.

That is very awesome! I saw the video, and I think it would be better to wait until the prices drop on these diodes a bit before pushing them too far; 6.4W from one diode is an absolutely awesome result and I don't wanna see you kill one of your new expensive diodes too early :P

Yea I would just worry they are just driving the diodes @ a lower current than the sibling RW330U to get the longer hours rating which has 30 regular 9mm 445nm diodes in it and a higher lumen rating of 3500 compared to the 3000 this claims to have. That would leave you with 30 $250 standard 9mm 445's but lets say best case is 30 of the new 3.5W diodes that would be $225 3.5W diodes.

Here is the block from the RW330U.

That would be bad to have $225 in the old 3w diode and it not be the new 3.5W. Have you seen some projector that look like they could have the new diode them?

That would leave you with 30 $250 standard 9mm 445's but lets say best case is 30 of the new 3.5W diodes that would be $225 3.5W diodes.

Here is the block from the RW330U.

How the heck are those diode clusters cooled? Seems like they would all die from heat pretty quick, but then again they are probably fan cooled...

The backplate on which the diodes are mounted is finned or connected to a finned heatsink and then this is fan cooled
