They cost thousands of dollars apiece, you're buying what can be essentially considered surplus, because someone else spent a very, very large amount of money on a lot of these diodes and put them in a relatively affordable (for some people) projector for $800 for 24 of them. </rant>

That would be casio. Why is that a rant?

I know it was C@$i0, most everyone knows it was C@$i0. It's a rant because I'm tired of seeing people complain about the price being 'high' on something that you'd have no way to get otherwise. It's a 1W rated 445nm BLUE laser diode and you didn't have to pay $2,000 for it, be glad you got it for less than $100. Does it suck to lose $50? Yeah, but we've all done stupid stuff. I just lost about $530 loaning it to someone I shouldn't have, oh well, I'll write it off as a loss because shit happens. </rant>

Still not really a rant but ok. Its not like anyone pays that much though. I get what you are saying but the logic doesnt hold up. If you pay for something you should get it. Doesnt matter what it is "Worth" I am not mad at DTR, people.

I guess I just thought they would be tested I guess. I payed 90 for the diodes, 3 pp fees and two for shipping. Thats 95 for one working diode. You understand a little bit? I know how much these cost for the projector so I know he also made a lot of money on this deal

You sent exactly $90. That is $45 a diode shipped and fees included. How are you coming up with $95

I want to say I'm not trying to minimize your loss as it's a fact it happened but there are other ways to look at it like befor these came out like they are now you could get one from ebay for $500.00 dollars just ask me I know who got one, so should he go to the seller and ask him for $450.00 back since they are only $50.00 now, so is he realy out $450.00 ?
as Prototype said you could have payed $1000.00 for it a while back so feel lucky that we are getting them at this price and try and roll with the punches you will last longer that way.
Wishing you better luck with your next one !

I did not ask or realize that you paid them. I did not know you even could do that. Also why would you have to pay the post man? Was there insufficient postage or something?

Toaster ---

In the early days of 445 diode harvesting, I got a diode like that. What a POS but there will always be a bad apple in any basket and I got it by luck of the draw.
Others I have used range between the two published curves.

Yeah I know that there is bad ones, what I am saying though is that if you pay for a service, you kinda expect the seller to take the bad apple because in a company there always is a loss and thats the risk of running it. Does that make sense? Any how here is a diode shot in my little brothers room. It has darker paint so it looks a little better. Sorry I dont have a nicer camera
