Sorry about leaving a bit of a mess here
Firehost is blocking the merge action right now
I'll attempt to finish cleaning it up again later

Peace,

I found a good way to remove the lens from the lens holder.

Take two pairs of pliers and grab a side of the holder in each one. Then bend both at the same time down away from the lens. The lens should just pop free as the holder snaps in half. I then scraped the glue off the lens with my fingernails and popped it in one of DTR's barrels. Done :D

That's prety much what we have been doing it's just sometimes some of the glue stay's on the lens and it should be removed (If it is causeing a problem). I still have one in the drawer to do.. that will make 4x G9 lenses for me... I was saving it for a dual build just waiting a couple weeks to catch up and I am gona spend a small fortune on optics. No sence spending a ton on shipping by piecing it out.

Edit Come to think of it I chipped the first lens that way too... The last 2 I filed first like Moh's diode removal then split the holder.

Sounds cool dude. I wish I had the tools and cash to make a multi-diode build. If i had the money I would combine a M140 and a Mits 500mW ML501P73. That would create an epic purple beam of awesome. I would attempt to match the beam shapes by using a G1 in the M140 so both would have bad divergence lol

I wish I had the tools too and a workshop.. I'm still working at a large computer desk...

I look at the 9mm like at 2 in 1.. Yes it is more expensive but you get a diode capable of 3.5W (IF YOU GET A GOOD ONE NOT RECOMENDED)

AND You get a HIGH power lens that does more colminating than the G2's So in duh english 'Better Beam Same power'

I still have to test out this last diode I have high hopes but I am not too sure how it will do yet. just working on the PLTB450 atm... Left the 9mm in the right pocket..

I would likely just use multi diode builds to get exotic beam colors. If I were to make one with two of the same diode I would likely insane drive both for beyond crazy power.

Hmm... two 9mms driven at 2.5A. I would have to use some sort of micro active cooling for that kind of output and hope for spectacular wavelength shift too :D

Umm that is a single with it's own lens The red purpandicular beams are reflecions

I have been hitting all these diodes to the limit!!
the 9mm Way over powers any other cheap 445

Oh That diode is dead It died at 3150ma... They all I have seen have been able of the 2.8A

I am trying to mount one of these. Same lens, same holder. The best I can get is a "fair" (kind of big) dot but it has two large V shaped "wings".
I believe these are related to reflection of the two screw slots in the nut that screws into the barrel to hold the lens.
I have tried it without the nut just to see what it looks like and there is a very large splatter pattern aroung the dot. (reflection of the inside of barrel)
Other than distance to the diode there is not much else to try to adjust.
How are people mounting the lens?
With nut, without nut, liner, top of barrel, bottom of barrel?

I am using a DTR barrel for my 9mm stock lens and I get a nice clean dot with almost no splash. You may want to make sure your lens is sitting property and that you got the glue off completely. The lens is supposed to sit at the bottom of the lens barrel closest to the diode with the flat edge facing the diode itself.

@Kiz
Yeah I can see the red lines are a reflection. I was talking about if I were to make a multi diode build I would use a M140 and a 500mW Mitsubishi. The combined colors would be spectacular.

That's exactly how I did it. DTR's short barrel.
I get lots of splatter around the dot. Can almost use it as a flashlight.

I'm prety sure he has long and short ones... Barrels need a short one if you want to put a 1/2 WP in there no? Or does the shorts go with the odd module?

:Barf:

I have 2 short brass G9 barrels maybe them were dave's from AUS.. Sorry Jordan..

just a thaught...

DAVE's NOT HOME!!

ALSO anyone buying modules specify what ya want there are alot of cheap fked up modules arround that you dont want to buy!!!

Defocuse the dot and see if there is crap on the lens. I had what you are describing when my lens caught a lot of dust.
