^^ so you can strip down a G-2 and fit the Ca$eo lens?

Yup! If the lens is the same size. I plan to buy some bare "G" lenses for them though, once I have need of them.

The Ca$io lenses are a bit different than the 405-G-1/2's but the A series lenses which are very much shaped like a 650-G-1/2 will fit very nicely in my new lens barrels. The M series ones however are much larger and will not fit in any common lens barrel I have seen. Something custom would probably have to be made. With the Ca$io stock lens the beam is fine and they do put out more power than a three element lens but they have a really nasty splash. It just is not pleasant to look at.:(

Also to note the new brass lens barrels I have will allow the lens element to get closer to the diode than any other lens barrel I have seen and is why I went looking for something like them since my old black barrels would bottom out before focus due to the longer 9mm can.

Here is an A series lens mounted in the lens holder

Well you can grab one of my new lens barrels and you will be set. Plus they come with a focus ring.:D

Also after trying out the first batch to make sure they worked perfectly just got a larger quantity batch in stock so they are $12 now for singles and less in quantity.

Do you have a focus adaptor attached?

Sorry all I've had a hectic couple of weeks and been away the last 3 weekends in a row.

The lens holder is screwed all the way into the module, there is no way you would get a focus adapter on it (see pics below). Mind you, at 1.8A this thing burns stuff meters away without being properly focused!

I have a bottoming tap on order. I'll also try taking a small amount off the lens holder and chamfering it so it fits closer to the diode. I might take a little bit off the copper module too.

I do want to stress that its just a bit of a problem with the tolerance of everything and the way it fits together, there are no actual problems with anything supplied by DTR or Jayrob.

Now the pics:
As you can see the lens optic screws in all the way. This is with the supplied copper module and the 9mm glass lens in a jayrob adaptor:

Ya know I really need to post all my results from the barrels I have aquired.

I like the brass/bronse they work the 2 I ordered were short or maybe it was the module was long time...

I want to try one of yours now for sure next order I'll grab 3..

Update:
I just tried a G1-405 lens and it DOES focus, JUST. It is still screwed past flush with the module (I'd never get a focus adaptor on it), but focuses to infinity less than one turn away from being screwed all the way down.

I'll have another look at this soon...

it is your module that is long.. Or your barrel is too short..

Apparently you can still make them case + or case - by soldering the pin of your choice to the diode just need the right driver I have never done this though no need. I never use the case pin either. well except for the microboost builds I will bring in the neg from the case pin to the V-in on the driver.

Are there any good substitutes for a driver for these diodes besides the flex P3? I need something with a smaller footprint that can drive my diode to at least 2a. I know some of the smaller diodes could be ran together to get the higher currents but am unsure which ones those are....

Not to toot my own horn, but there is the BlitzBuck V3 ^_^ Capable of supplying between 1.2 and 3.1A output. Requires very little heatsinking. Is 16.4mm in diameter, fits in most hosts' pills.
