Decan that sucker and get us a micro I'm very interested in a micro pic... Might have to take the 9mm dive.

There is a fine decaned pic in the op. I probably will send it off to Julse but he must be away or something hasnt got back to me lately.

If you sent it to JLSE ask him to put more wires on the die. At 4A it will surely do 4 Watt output ! :D

Ok , confirmed.

2 x Flexdrives each putting 1100mA to the diode, 2200mA in total, = 1471mW with Aixiz lens....1661mW with G-2.

Disapointed to say the very least. Also heatsink gets hot very quickly :(

By comparison, my M140 is doing 1555mW with 3 element lens an pushing 1900mW with the G-2 , from a single 18650 & flexdrive.

Gutted.

Are you absolutely sure that the 2 Flexdrives are really
putting out 2 X 1100mA..

It has been noted in some other threads that when
paralleling some boost drivers that the output is less
than twice each..

That is a sign of dude or zombie diode. :yabbem:
Instead of pumping light out of the diode, it is now a heat pump.

Yup, 2211mA on the nose according to my test load.

Odd though, in post #463 I was getting close to 2W with my bench PSU. So I must have an unstable diode.

Did you read the Vout on your test load and on your diode? Older 445nms are arounde 4.5-4.8V, but these new guys seem to get way up there to around 5.5V or so... maybe on your testload it said 2.2A cause it could pull that much, but on the diode, with a higher Vf, it couldn't?

^^ I hear ya.
I'll measure the current to the diode "in-line" while its running tomorrow.
On my bench supply which was set at 6v and I edged the current up, those figures weren't encouraging either :/

I was just about to say that these are more like 5.5-6V. which would make a huge difference in ma readings on a testload set for 4.5V.

Oh and another thing I forgot about the lens is that it outputs much more of a dot compared to the G2. So it seems to colminate the beam better? was that right? lol

Hello fellow enthousiasts!

Got my 9mm diode in this week and today i started on removing te lens etc. First i broke of the lens from the diode by breaking 1 attachment at a time with needle nose pliers (very delicate job).

Then i put away the diode for later and dropped the lens with metals still on it in alcohol. I left it there for about an hour. Grabbed two good pliers and took off one metal side like in this picture from blord©: (sorry for stealing this pic, but just to show.)

9mm-lens-6.jpg

What i got was that only one side broke off.. So i put back the rest in the alcohol in hope to soften the glue. After that i took remaining metal between pliers and just pushed the lens of with my thumb which worked great!

The remaining glue wasn't really that much, but it was enough to make the lens inable to fit in DTR's new lens module.

How did i fix it?

This may sound kinda careless but it worked great! I got myself some very fine sandpaper and gently rubbed the sides and i dropped the lens in alchohol again to clean it again. dried it and checked it out with a 15x loup. Perfect condition, AR coating perfect. Even tested the output with a C6 build flawless.

Then about power increase with a c6 with normal glass lens i got about 1200mW And with th 9mm diode about 1430mW is this a "normall" increase?

Now for testing this diode

Nice. I didnt think to use alcohol on it thinking that chems would ruin the coating. You wouldnt want to do that to the diode.

How are people cleaning the glue from the diode?

I was just picking it off with a pin worked kind of like chiping ice but there came a point where I just didnt want to damage the diode for all I know this could have been what damaged my 2nd diode it still works I threw it back into the aurara the super diode came out of 700mw I'm sure it will apreciate that.

Got my lens barrels from Jayrob today; took the lenses out of the G2 barrels and put them into the ones from Jayrob, and they work for the 9mm diodes! Can focus to infinity easily.

Power measurements coming soon! :eg:
