Ok,
So i am leaving tonight for a vacation. I thought I would make you happy with these.
I got everything now (2A mode driver, 9mm diode, cells) except the glue for the driver heatsink.
I also made you some 18650 spacers so you dont have to use the big 26650's! I also added a pic of the huge 26650 in comparison to the 16340 cell. you got 10000mAh in this thing which means you can run it for hours straight!
I am just in love with this host the threads are just perfect and smooth. + rep to ehgemus!
I am building it after my holiday
PICS:
I keep this thread updated after my vacantion
EDIT: It's a monster now
I am not going to upload a lot of pictures now because my own camera is really crappy :cryyy:
But when i get the one from my girlfriend i will upload more
Ok so i used a blitzbuck V3 in this build. I set it at high mode and 2.14A (not vast determined current yet) When the vast current is set i will put a nice heatsink to the driver that tops the set screw. Also it is using the 9mm lens with the custom DTR lens barrel.
There were two positive wires as stock from ehgemus, I only used one the other one i topped the end with shrink tube to avoid shortage and left it alone so i am able to change things if neccesairy.
Another problem i encountered was that the 9mm diode does not have a third case pin. So how are you going to make the build case negative?
I chose the easiest way was to drill a small hole in the direct press head and then heat it with a high temperature lighter, put in a heat risistent silicone lead with solder and let it cool down. It is tricky to get it too the right temperture for the solder to bind but it worked flawlessly
This is how i did it:
Another problem i got was that the direct press 9mm was slightly to big for the diode not wiggly or something but a press would be a overkill. I added a little thermal glue for optimal heat transfer on the edges of the diode and on the back.
Finished up the pill:
Screwed it in the head:
Working :gun: :
Now for the sad part. My LPM only goes up to 2W which is no match for this laser. I wanted to upload a youtube video but since it is useless to see a LPM shoot up too 2W and then fails i won't do that unless you guys want to :tinfoil:
Anyhow would someone with an ophir head be willing to play/test this laser? If i get a power reading now i would be able to tweak the driver a little more for good performance
Anyhow more & better pictures coming soon :thanks:
EDIT:
MOAAHH pictures
For some reason my gf's camera picked the beam up as some sort of strongest 405nM on the planet... I don't know what causes it but you guys get the idea
And my wallpaper catched fire at 5m when focused to infinity.. beam dump is neccesairy with this laser
Pulled the blitzbuck V3 out and pushed in Le mode driver in
Modes:
Med - .7A
Low - .2/3A
High - 2.23A
Strobe - .23/2.2A
SOS - 0/2.2A
Thanks all!
