Default Need some blue laser purchasing advice

Been lurking a long time; found this review by lazeerer and to my surprise, also found it on ebay for $63.

The only thing keeping me from buying it is the fact that it only uses 2x16340 batteries. From what I've searched, it seems like you can only get ~10-15 minutes of continuous use.

My question is, are there any 445nm lasers of similar price that accepts 2x18650?

This is the only thing I've found that's kind of close:
All brass 2x18650 host

Thanks for the advice

That is going to be a long laser because it uses two 18650 batteries.
The price will probably be a fair amount more than $63
Be sure to have the correct laser safety eye wear also.

Hi S,
For the same amount of money you can build one your self give or take a few more bucks.
Euhgemus and DTR go to their site and put some thing together. It will be a better quality al around Chinese lasers are funny and they don't give you the full specs.ther's a ( I Want To Build A Laser thread ) her eon LPF read it and you can build one it's really rewarding.

Ive built a few myself and the price is a little more but the quality is also higher as has already been said. Ive recently purchased one of them lasers of ebay and dont expect it to be amazing but i like the host and plan on making a copper heatsink and running a pltb450b diode with a xdrive.

That way i get the host i like but with quality internals. I plan on leaving it standard till it fails which i suspect wont be long the drivers the use get very hot and seen as tho they are directly soldered to the diode i dont expect a long life.

I know these are just crummy built, poorly heat sinked with garbage batteries, but still, it's a 1w laser for 49 dollars delivered, this worries me.

450nm Powerful Blue Laser Pointer Burning Focus Adjustable Cigarette Lighter TR | eBay

@ Seraph

Safety glasses designed to attenuate 450nm light must be worn when burning with a blue laser, even the crummy 1w laser can ruin your vision and I mean ruin it for life, so wear your safety glasses designed for 445-450nm

The Gold one at least shows a 9mm diode, but you are not getting any real quality and you may not get what's shown, you may get one with a scavenged A series diode out of a high hour projector, what ever they can get cheapest.

Also shipping from China is slow right now, it will take weeks and you could lose it in customs.

Seraph, how old are you and what city do you call home?

@redcowboy
I totally agree the last thing this hobby needs is some young kid buying a cheap 1 watt laser not knowing anything about it then blinding himself.

Without divulging too much details; I'm in my late 20's and in the medical field. Yes, I've done funduscopic exams in clinic and have seen first hand the dangers of devices like this. I was drawn in by the allure of having such a high powered device, but after some reconsideration, I'm not going to buy a high powered laser as it greatly increases the chance to ruin my career. I've already gone through a lot of trouble protecting my hands.

Thanks for the concern guys.

That Laser puts out about 3 watts. It is a decent Laser but watch the duty cycle. It is sensitive to bumps so don't drop it or bang it. I had one arrive doa when I ordered two. One obviously was banged into the other during shipping.
