I would imagine the lighter would start to feel hot fast if it's acting as a HS.

With just the module alone you should be ok about 20 seconds. It's so compact though so it's fine but great job

Here is my new laser lighter.
Features:
- It should be over 2W (I don't have a laser power meter
- M-140 diode
- 445nm
- two 300mAh LiPo batteries
- FMT V2 buck/boost driver 1.7A
- 405-G-2 Lens
- copper module
- Zippo® style

My thoughts.. if you make another, let Mrkrouse make you a custom body for your lighter. a brass one could really be nice. I'm thinking extend the lighter a bit for the heat syncing. cigar smokers would love it

The sun is not 1366 W/m2, it's something like 64,000,000 W/m2.
You may have been looking at some other variable, like the sunlight that makes it through Earth's atmosphere, per m2 of Earth's surface area.
And by the way, nice build! Anybody can build a big giant monster laser, it takes a lot more skill to build a tiny one.

That's a awesome build and it had to be a Zippo right! any other type of lighter wouldn't be as cool, don't forget to give us an update when there is a revision of the build or when you have LPM Graph!
